if I have nothing else, I have confidence... popularity has never interested me and it’s not about to start now... I could give a damn if I'm popular or not.

Or are you more a shy wallflower?
cool

I feel confident - I don't really care about being popular
I am quieter if that = "shy" okay
and sometimes I choose the "wallflower" experience as well but overall I am confident

Totally depends on my mood. It's like flipping a coin.

In general, I'm detached from my surroundings falloff as I'm intorverted so I have alot of thought processes going on inside. But sometimes I work a crowd. It really just depends.

Where I sometimes clam up is when folks are expecting me to be funnier or smarter than I really am. I often have friends introduce me to people as this really witty, funny guy----then I feel like Larry David trying to stumble through a lunch living up to expectations. shrug

At work I'm extremely confident most of the time.

I'm anxious when I'm working, and feel like I'm on top of the world when I go out. I'm shy and a bit of a wall flower once I'm out, but when I'm hyper, I totally let go and it's a good feeling.

by virtue of my position as a senior leader in my unit, I HAVE TO exude confidence, bordering on arrogance.....if I come across as timid or weak, my troops will literally run roughshod....and I can't have that.....of course, theres that level of confidence that comes from being able to do the physical crap much better than the 20 year olds that work for me....

I just feel the same, wherever I am.

Wearing masks for different social settings is anathema to me - as are other people whom do this.

I wish I knew how to answer this thread in a concise way; after about 4 attempts, however, I'm giving up. dead lol But I relate to sooooo many responses on this thread.

I think people who don't know me would say I am confident; and a lot of my mates expect me to be strong/confident. I *am* confident about certain things, confident in who I am/what I stand for, for example. But it hides a huge shy, self-conscious side to my personality which frustrates me greatly. I think it confuses the hell out of a load of people - it just comes across as weird. confused lol It's an internal battle, really.

By confident, I'd say I feel pretty secure and comfortable with myself.
As far as popular, I don't think, nor worry about others' perception.
When I was much younger, I did. smile
