I've never understood why Johnny Depp is so popular among the ladies. Isn't he kind of effeminate?

That's kinda the point. Contrary to the popular belief of evolutionary behaviourists and most men in general, the beefy, macho type is not what all -or even most -women prefer.

As per The Depp: What role, exactly, shot him through the roof in terms of sex symbol status? An effeminate, makeup-wearing pirate. I rest my case. wink

Well I don't know about "beefy macho type", but I would have at least expected most women to go for masculine rather than effeminate, and in that case there are plenty of other guys that fit the picture better than Johnny Depp. Apparently he has something going for him anyway though. hmmm

Maybe this is way too much information, but I suddenly remember one time when I was having sex with this woman and she was straddling me to start riding, but instead of letting my dick slide in, she pressed it against my stomach and sat down on my balls so that from her perspective, it looked like it was her dick. She just sat there and stared at it, mesmerized. When I asked what was so fascinating she said that she'd always been curious what it would be like to have a penis and now she could get a sense of that. It was pretty bizarre, especially since she was very feminine and didn't come across as someone who would have penis envy at all. But who knows? Maybe it's a common phenomenon.

I've done that before. cool

I wouldn't call it penis envy (the term really should be power envy, but that's another thread) and I'm prefectly happy being female, but I admit I have wondered before what it'd be like if I wound up with a Y chromosome instead of an X.

It's interesting though, because I don't think guys usually wonder too much about what it would be like not to have a penis. I guess it makes sense to be curious about having something when you don't have it than the other way around. I mean, I'm of course not saying that a vagina is nothing, but it's not - you know - protruding. smile

Shit would be shorter! Workplaces, stores, public spaces, even traditionally "female" spots like home kitchens are designed with a 6 foot tall man in mind. Yeah, I know, some of us ladies shop in the Big and Tall, but not most of us, not by a long shot. So why the hell is everything so high up? confuse

I'm sorry, I just got this mental image of you just barely peeking up behind this huge kitchen counter. Cute. lol

You're right though, of course.

Capt. Jack Sparrow aside, I don't actually think of Depp as all that much more feminine than most guys. He's a bit prettier in the feminine sense than the masculine one, but that's just what happens when you mix native and white: stellar cheekbones and lovely eyes. batting eyes

Now if we were talking true lady-like men like Prince or young Bowie, I could see where the question marks appear. Cuz those two? Myself and millions of other women find them sexy, but I couldn't begin to tell you why girly works for them. lol

We actually talked about this not too long ago, in not one but two of my classes. What it boils down to is that men, culturally and socially, are so used to being dominant and accepted as the default "norm" ( women, even though we outnumber men, are considered a deviation; a minority) in most societies that it would never cross a lot of guys' minds that things could be very, very different if they had an innie instead of an outie. razz A dude will never have a moment where he's forced to consider the very real advantage he still has, whereas women come across situations that underscore what's different about us almost daily. In other words, those who benefit from a heirarchy almost never realize there is a heirarchy. Technically we were talking about gender relations, but biology's a big factor in who's allowed what.

You wouldn't believe how close that image is to the truth. lol

I used to bust dish in a restaurant. Dish pits are designed for rather large men. To refill detergent, grab pots or pans, and put dishes away, I had to climb on the counters. Thank God for high-grip soles. lol

Nope, I'm an apple man. nod razz

I actually think it would be lots of fun to try and dress up as a transvestite at some point. Maybe I should throw a themed masquerade party... hmmm
