Do you think your pets have human-like emotions? I think they do. Can cows feel love? Do cats "laugh" on the inside? Do dogs get jealous? My Mario Kart Wii Friend Code: 2020-0055-3691

Absolutely. I wouldn't go so far as to assume their emotions are qualitatively identical, as our emotions are often tied to things like existentialist angst, religious response, etc. I simply don't know if animals experience such things. But I totally believe they go through similar complex neurological and biochemical processes as a result of experiences, expectations, attachments with other animals and things, etc. [Edited 10/7/07 22:32pm] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

jami0mckay said: ![]() My dog Parker looks just like this. I feel terrible leavin him in the house to go to work. But when I get home, I hug him up and kiss him on the head like a baby. Never understood until we got him how people got so attached to their pets. Now I get it. He's like a son you don't have to send to college.

To some degree. But they aren't capable of complex human-level thought. Maybe we can go to the movies and cry together

...And they occasionally do. I totally agree...that's why the arguement about good dogs going bad always being the owners fault just doesn't stand as far as I'm concerned...

I guess this brings us back to where we do more clearly differ from animals: the qualitative value we ascribe to emotive behavior. If some pitbull eats a baby, we all say he's ben "bad." He just thinks he's been a dog, maybe. [Edited 10/9/07 15:57pm] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
