Should I snitch?

I work in a major department store in the largest Mall on the East coast of the U.S. but I noticed yesterday that they are selling toys that have been on the recall list for having lead based paint that may harm children, should I say something or not?

If you're concerned about going to your direct manager, many large companies have "tip" lines you can call to let them know.

Heck, I'd like to think it's an oversight on the company's part and you'll be commended for recgonizing it.

The fact that you are even considering not reporting the incident is worrying.

Report it to your boss. They have a responsibility to deal with it.

As mentioned above, there should be a corporate line to allow you to report this for the organisation's own good. The cost to them, if it is reported that they continue to sell the goods, is damaging enough for them to want to take action and withdraw the goods.

If you do not think you will be assured protection, or be victimised for "whistleblowing", consider what official bodies might want to raise the matter with the store on behalf of consumers. It should be easy for a consumer body that seeks to maintain trading standards to walk into a store and dmand for the goods to be removed without them disclosing who might have alerted them to the possibility. They will acting on their own evidence.

I saw that the toys just came in on a recent shipment and thought maybe the store didn't hear about the recall yet, but of course it's been all over the news and the internet, I know the retail industry is greedy, but I can't believe they would sell these, it's near Christmas too. I'm gonna say something, thanks!

Yes, tell your manager for the store's sake you have to make sure the toys aren't part of the recall.

Yes you should. Not doing so is just as bad as selling them.

It's possible that the store may have overlooked it. My mom recently tried to purchase a toy car for my nephew at Wally World, and when the guy tried to ring it up, he got a message telling him it was on the recall list and could not sell it to her.

Oh, behave. I really think we should start typing sarcasm in a different coloured font or something. Frankly, the only response this thread deserved was one of scathing moronity.

If they are homosexual dolls they should be taken off the shelves. We don't want American kiddies growing up to be gay.

I don't get why you even posted this.
If it's true, the fact that you even took the time to post this and wait for responses to figure out what to do is kinda scary.

You report it to your superiors, and if they don't do anything or fire you as a result, you go to your local news station and tell them about it.

You're talking about something that could affect someone's life.

Wow.
