When was the last time you felt...

that you were the only friend in the world to someone in a situation that desperately needed you so that they would not crack and do something stupid they would later regret? This happened to me last night and I feel like God blessed me 10 fold and granted me enough wisdom to handle the situation in a manner I did not think I was capable of. Anyway, it's like 1 in the morning and I am seething, pissed off from my team losing its game Friday so I am not asleep and just rehashing the game in my mind and I get this call and it is one of my friend crying in hysterics and acting like she has never acted in her life saying irrational things. I won't get into the details of the conversation cause thats private and all, but I listened to her spew for like an hour, saying nothing, then when she was just sobbing I said all the perfect things to make her laugh, then I got this great idea to take her to Denny's for some breakfast and before I met with her I bought a little pocket bible and underlined my favorite versus in it that I read when I am feeling low and gave it to her after we ate. When went outside it was like 4:30 in the morning and I had this idea to go to this place that I go to on one of my runs that is perfect for watching the sun come up. I prayed with her for like 30 minutes and when the sun came up I told her see, you made it through another day and the smile was priceless. I came home tired and fatigued, but felt blessed beyond words. biggrin So if you ever get the chance to do something like this it reminds you what real friendship can truly mean.

One of my sister's friends took her to the hospital the other night after she threw back some sleeping pills with the cocktails she was drowning her sorrows in.

Good on her...and good on you. cool

What a heartening tale. It's fascinating what we're empowered to do if we reserve a little faith.

Don't get too good at this, though, karma... you may find yourself warding off unwanted marriage proposals. smile
