Big Mouth Strikes Again

Do you know someone with a generally loud voice? I'm not meaning in the sense someone who talks a lot of crap but I mean in the sense that I've generally got a loud voice ie you can here them from a long way away. Do you yourself have a loud voice or have been told you have a loud voice? Are you conscious of it?

This seems mostly to be a cultural thing. In some countries pretty much everybody is loud. In others, you can hear a pin drop most of the time.

in uniform, I have a very loud commanding voice....especially when I have to call running cadence during physical fitness (think of the scene in "boot camp" part of Full Metal Jacket when the Drill Instructor is running alongside the formation singing.....that would be what I do...) but during the duty day, my inflection is that of a senior non-com

...out of uni, I'm relatively mellow unless I'm in an uproar...

INSATIABLE

avatar

I was at a bar last night doing homework (don't ask) and I was amazed at the differences in noise levels coming from each table. There were two Texan ladies screaming and hollering at each other in drunken fun on my right, and a Japanese couple who were utterly silent while they sipped their drinks to my left. The only words I heard were muttered by the man--the woman was mostly silent and very submissive. She nodded and smiled at each thing he said. I'm the first to admit I'm naive and uncultured, but Christ if it didn't have my feathers in a ruffle. I wanted to deck the guy and let her strike up a conversation just to see his reaction. Without being offensive, I truly wonder why it's attractive in some cultures for a woman to stay silent. Yes, it's mysterious and mystery is sexy, and I realize gender roles are much more polarized in some parts of the world. I also wonder if women in these cultures long to join in the conversation.

Anyway, I can get loud and rambunctious, but nothing compares to a good friend of mine. She yells at you when you're sitting right next to her. It's awful and I've actually had to resort to wearing an earplug in my right ear for the times she's in the passenger seat. You have to turn your phone all the way down and hold it away from your ear when she's spouting. Her whole family's like that.
Oh shit, my hat done fell off

I don't have a loud voice but I knew someone who did. OMG. I thought I was going to have to kill her. You couldn't take her anywhere.

My stupid mouth,
Has got me in trouble.
I said too much again.
To a date over dinner yesterday
And I could see she was offended.
She said well anyway...
Just dying for a subject change.

Oh, its another social casualty
Score one more for me
How could I forget?
Mama said think before speaking
No filter in my head.
Oh, whats a boy to do?
I guess he better find one soon

We bit our lips. she looked out the window
Rolling tiny balls of napkin paper
I played a quick game of chess with the
Salt and pepper shaker.
And I could see clearly
An indelible line was drawn
Between what was good, what just
Slipped out and what went wrong.

Oh, the way she feels about me has changed.
Thanks for playing, try again.

How could I forget?

Mama said think before speaking
No filter in my head.
Oh, whats a boy to do?
I guess he better find one.

Im never speaking up again. it only hurts me.
Id rather be a mystery than she desert me.

Oh Im never speaking up again.
Starting now

One more thing.
Why is it my fault?
So maybe I try too hard
But its all because of this desire
I just wanna be liked, I just wanna be funny.
Looks like the jokes on me
So call me captain backfire

Im never speaking up again it only hurts me.
Id rather be a mystery than she desert me.

Oh Im never speaking up again
Starting now
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.
