I donate clothes as often as I can.
I volunteer at an old age home. Only once a month, but it's all I can do.
I've donated money to 2 charities for several years now.

Do you mean, with down and outs luv4u? I live near a big off-license in town (likka stow), so there are loads of winos down the bottom of my road. If I gave them anything, I would be stored in their databank, and hit up for cash every time I walked past them, which is several times a day neutral

Does not have to deal with down and outs. Basically, what has one done to brighten someone's day? Help out in a situation or give advice, etc.

For me, for example ..... I go through my wardrobe, etc. - stuff I don't wear or need that is in good condition and donate it to charity.

Like random acts of kindness kinda thing?

I'll go get a snack for a coworker just 'cause they wanted it. (My treat)

As far as society as a whole, I don't really do much. I donate clothes and I donate to the regional childrens' hospital.

I donate blood on a regular basis...

I used to donate blood also, but I've stopped as I feel that gay people are being disciminated in Holland.
They are not allowed to donate blood even if they practice safe sex.

Half a year ago, I've started donating my sperm.
Me and my wife decided that I should help other couples get pregnant and have great kids like we do.

I volunteer alot at my kids school, it is mandatory to volunteer 30 hours each school year, or pay $ to get out of it. I volunteer big time hours, I love being at the school helping out in the library, helping to be a recess monitor. I also am the chairwoman for the annual Holiday Boutique. So, if you happen to be in Santa Barbara Ca. on December, 8th, and have a yen for Holiday Boutique type crafty stuff, come on by. cool

heart And you're one who truly lives it, babe.

That being said, I feel inappropriate sharing what I do. The fact that I'm mentioning I do anything is counteractive to the deeds themselves. lol

I think it's a good thing for us to let others know what we do. It just might inspire others to do something too.

As long as there is no arrogance or holier than thou attutide, I think could inspire. For example, I have a cousin who has done charity work for years. She inspired me to get involved simply by telling me what she did and how easy it was to help others.

I helped a dear friend fight for 3 years to get out of an abusive relationship where she was habitually raped and abused, it took a long time to show her she was worth it...her and her beautiful daughter.
They finally got out with alot of help and support and started afresh. We keep in touch usually weekly.....i texted her on sunday and got abused by her new b/f who told me she no longer has a voice of her own and he would kill me if i contacted her again....oh and that she was pregnant.....made me cry....i really thought she would make it and i had made a difference. rose I hope she is ok.

I really love to do small gestures. I often buy water and/or food for people that seem to need it or want it. For example, I was at Wal Mart and the cashier was talking about how she was looking forward to break to have some water because she had a sore throat. Her break wasn't for another few hours or so. I just bought her a bottle of water and gave it to her. Her face just lit up and she thanked me profusely. She told me that I reminded her that kind people still exist in the world.

It feels so good to do things for people with no expectation that the good deed will be returned.

I have bought homeless people lunch. I have given them money or whatever.

Those small things are the things I like to do.

As I stated in another thread,
right now,
I'm eating a big bowlful of packing peanuts.
By this one act alone,
God knows how many trees I've saved.
