to buy a lap top this weekend....
any suggestions on brand ...how much ram should I have ...and hard drive...I understand none of this ..so please help!!!
All I know is sony had pretty coloured ones

This is the one I looked at today ...it came in green, pink, blue, silver and black
oh and it had 2GB and 80 hardrive thingy ..not that I have a clue what that means

I have a Vaio desktop-LOVE it

And I have a HP laptop-Love that too

alls i'm saying is i love my mac.
that's it.

What do you want to do with it?

That much RAM and HD space would be more than enough for web browsing, running office applications and such. Just about anything except high end video editing, gaming, and CAD stuff. None of which is done much on laptops in my experience and really hinges more on the video card.

Also Sony does make a nice machine, but you will pay alot more for a machine with the same capabilities as any other with similar specs. Sony just makes them prettier.

I got bought an HP last weekend. I really dig it. It has 2 gigs of ram, 160 gig hard drive, duel layer dvd drive/burner and a built-in webcam.
