My Daughter Has Her First Boyfriend... Apparently his name is "Adam" (imagine me saying that in a condescending way lol)...he's tall, something like 6' 2"....blond, curly hair...no peach fuzz yet (thank god lol)...plays football...sheesh. Going to the homecoming game together this weekend...she's wearing his jersey number. I've been replaced!! .... Actually, to be honest...I'm happy that she's experiencing this aspect of Life, that her heart is being effected, even if just a little ...Of course I hope they don't actually get serious anytime soon (her mother will keep an eye on that, again thank God lol)...but the reality of her having those types of experiences--like holding someone's hand and feeling that thrill as she does--kinda makes me smile inside ...Bless her heart. Anyway...anyone know where I can buy a cheap shotgun?

No matter who she dates or eventually who she marries, you will always be her father
Just make it clear to the young man that you're keeping a watchful eye, you know putting the fear into him so he will be on best behaviour/honour. Ohh purple joy oh purple bliss oh purple rapture! Well, she lives in Ohio now ...so I can't really keep a watchful eye from here. ...However, I trust her mother completely, and my daughter DOES have two VERY protective uncles and a equally protective grandfather living right nearby lol ...

oh man...wow...
my lil' girl is only 4, the other day I found myself just watching her play and thinking about how quickly she's growing up and realizing that one day she's gonna like a boy and expect me to be fine with it... I kinda feel your pain, Byron...

simple words on introduction will demand immediate respect from the young man (preferably without your daughter around)

Anyway...anyone know where I can buy a cheap shotgun? Look at it this way....how many people do you know who stay with the first person they ever date for the rest of their lives?? Its like never having tasted a sandwich before then deciding that the first sandwich you taste is your absolute favourite. How are you going to know unless you've tasted others? Least, that's how I see relationships. That's not to say that there aren't those that don't stay with their first boyfriend/girlfriend...seems to be less likely though. If that makes sense...! www.filmsfilmsfilms.co.uk - The internet's best movie site!

Byron....I want to be supportive but if I had a teenage daughter I would be a complete mess.
She does sound like she has a good head on her shoulders though. Try not to worry. They grow up so fast. All my little cousins that I used to terrorize are now teens and it's sooo scary to me. LoL..yeah, I understand what you're saying and I agree with you ...I'm not worried about her getting stuck with the guy for the rest of her life or anything lol...It's just the realization that she's entered into that phase of Life...really makes you (well me) think.

I love protection feelings towards family.
You know you've gotta let it happen, but you just don't want anyone near your precious loved one. How old is your daughter? Just trying to relate my experience with my parents to yours.

I feel for you Byron..... I really do.... My daughter is only 9 and so I have at least a few years until I get to go through this stuff I have a feeling though that you were a great father to her as a little girl and so if it makes you feel any better, she will likely compare any guy to her daddy...and if he doesn't measure up... So they live in Ohio now you say? Where abouts? I just moved from there myself.... so glad to be in Minnesota now! Good luck B!
