Shades of Sam Bowie! That is a bummer, especially considering Oden is really 31.

Or looks to be!

Well, he's only 19, so his body should be able to fully recover, plus it was a small area affected, so he should be cool.

Only 2 players have come back from micro fracture surgery.

Yeah, but I think those players had a larger area of the knee to repair and they weren't as young as O-Dawg.

But it's microfracture surgery, the most serious kknee surgery for a ball player. It ended the careers of Penny Hardaway, Jamal Mashburn and Allan Houston.

Chris Webber hasn't been the same since he had the surgery. Amare has said he lost 3-4 inches of his verticle and J-Kidd while still great is not the J-Kidd of 2001 and 2002.

Yeah, it's gonna be tough to come back, no doubt about that, BUT if anybody can come back from it, it's a 19-year-old with a small area of micro fracture surgery done on him.

I hate to see this happen to any athelete, but especially with such a young talent with so much potential.

I really hopes he beats the odds and makes a full recovery to have a great NBA career.

Why do y'all keep saying he's 19? He's 31. Just look at him!

J/K. Dude looks older than 19, though.

It's true microfracture surgery is the worst of all. But since he's a low-post player who doesn't need a 36-inch vertical, hopefully the loss of leaping ability won't affect him too much.
