Byron said: weepingwall said: thats your point you try to meditate..meditation comes in without force..like the breeze..people meditate because the feel they have to..meditation works when you want to meditation..the way you come into meditation affects the meditation..well that's what my roshi said. Ok, I'm gonna have to delve more thoroughly into meditation, I see... Don't delve sweetheart, it is not that complicated....just be somewhere comfortable and relax your body, calm your mind.... The ocean waves are SO damn calming to me, too ... Also, and this is something you might appreciate, I relax and calm myself thru photography... Yes. I started school now. learning realist art. To draw and paint like the old masters. I find myself able to sit down and work on the drawing for hours, with no pressure around me. Some of the works there took several months So I'm guessing it's really a great way to therapy.

Up until June I was in an apartment with a jacuzzi. My new apartment hasn't one... plus the bathroom is really ugly. I'ma have to strike some arrangement with the landlord to fix it up or something. Jacuzzi......baths are cool, too, but I prefer showers when I want to relax...will stay beneath one as long as the hot water holds out lol ...

I find meditation definitely helps, but it's like excercise. When you first get back into the gym after a hiatus, it can be exhausting, painful, and downright unpleasant. Meditation is like training the muscle of your mind so to speak, and the first couple of weeks involves doing nothing but trying to calm the monkey-mind. It's very difficult for me, and can be just as stressful as the stress I'm trying to relieve. But I have, in the past, been able to meditate and get to points where I see a problem or situation in a completely different light when I meditate upon it.

This is the suite I stayed in while in Greece...every morning the woman who worked for the owner would knock on the door and drop off croissants, cheese, coffee and fresh-squeezed orange juice. I'd sit at the table in the photo, eat and drink the food she provided, and just stare out the door and out the window at the cliffs and sea...completely, totally relazed and calm... Now I wake up to the neighbor kids screaming, trash trucks banging around, and look into an empty refridgerator for a slice of cold pizza and a Coke lol ...I gotta go back.

This I also find is a very good exercise in relaxation... Relax your mind....relax your breathing....just observe the slow movement of your breathing .....in.....and out....feel your body becoming more and more relaxed.....now allow your mind to drift.....to drift to a beautiful, natural place.....it is a peaceful place full of wonderful plants and flowers.....this is a place of complete safety where nothing can harm you.....take a few moments to look around and enjoy nature's beauty.....this is your special place....it is a place where nothing and no one can harm you....it is a place of stillness.....and calm.....In order to help you fix this place in your imagination....notice the light...what time of day is it?.....Notice the temperature....is it warm or cool....Now look around and take note of any plants, flowers and animals that you see.....experience all you notice...feel the gentle warm breeze kiss your cheek.....smell the scent of the flowers and the unique aroma of the beach....hear the birds gently calling, the breeze gently rustling the grass and the lapping of the ocean on the beach.....Feel the warmth of the sun and the safety and calm all around.....For this place is a special place of calm and freedom....Your special place.....so explore it, secure in the knowledge that you are safe.....if you allow your mind to drift with the breeze you will find yourself flying or floating gently around this wonderful place which is yours.....Listen to the sounds and follow them if you want to.....just enjoy all that you are experiencing.....and know this is a place you can truly relax and come back to whenever you wish.
