The Rules of Attraction...Any Bret Easton Ellis Fans?

Hi all!

Just finished watching an advanced copy of Roger Avery's adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis's THE RULES OF ATTRACTION...and boy it was awesome...the best Ellis adaptation ever...of course it's such a fucked up story that, like the novel, I still felt weird after watching it...not one single character has any kind of redeeming value...but of course, like American Psycho and Less than Zero, that's the point...

Director Roger Avery co-wrote Pulp Fiction and directed the brilliant Killing Zoe...and RULES stars James VanDerbeek and man his 'Dawson Creek' image is definately shot...

Is this Prince related...probably not but Bret Ellis does always have Prince playing in the background during the various party scenes of all his novels...

anyhoo...the movie comes out next week...I highly recommend it.

Also, my friend that lend the advanced copy told me that GLAMORAMA is also in the works as a movie...another Ellis novel about terrorists that pose as models...and yes it's Prince related as prince makes an appearance in the novel GLAMORAMA with Prince at a party with supermodel Veronica Webb as his date...

I've read Less than zero & The rules, well I find almost all the characters of these books un-interesting, as I'm not from a rich family & that I've never been on cocaine, I don't feel concerned by their problems... I prefer Tom Wolfe, at least he's more about reality imho.

Mmmm...I don't know, Chris. I know of some rich kids who weren't dysfunctional or who turned out that way. I think since there is a large percentage of people in general who are dysfunctional it would make sense that many rich kids are too.

Less than zero was weird. I didn't see the movie because the back of it looked so different from the book, and it put more emphasis on the girlfriend trying to get the boyfriend off his cocaine habit, whereas that wasn't hardly a factor of the book at all.
I mean, like, where is the sun?
