NFL 2007 Team Power Rankings
23. New York Giants Tiki out - Brandon Jacobs and his 16 TD's in. Reuben Droughns was acquired from Cleveland to back him up, thats a nice 1-2 punch. Eli Manning has to take the next step and become a premier QB in the NFL this year or sparks could fly.

Too many question marks about my G-Men. I'm especially worried about the defense, plus the whole Strahan mess. One more mediocre season and Coughlin's done.

Plus Eli Manning is the streakiest passer this side of Rex Grossman. HE looks great for one game and then shitty at others.

I'm a Redskins fan. I think the NFC East is as close to being the NFL's Family Feud because 1) DC. NY and Philly are so close to each other; 2) Dallas is the most popular team in the league; and 3) the rivalries between and among each other remain intact despite expansion and realignment.

I think the Giants suffer under Coughlin. There's no reason they couldn't get to the playoffs every year with the talent they have. His act wears thin and it affects the rest of the team. They also have been inundated with prima donnas that allow their personal agendas to get in the way of the team. It's hard for Eli to flourish under these circumstances. He's inconsistent because the rest of the team is.

My 'Skins are a mess for entirely different reasons, but because Dallas and NY are so inconsistent and underachieving, and because Philly always has injury and running-game issues, they have as good a shot to go 10-6 as they do to go 6-10. Especially in the weaker NFC.

The NFC B-East is more like the NFC L-East these days. For about a decade, you could count on either the Niners or the NFC East champ to take home the Lombardi every year. Not anymore.

As a long suffering Dolphins fan, the AFC East is shitty. The Pats are so dominant that they should just make the other teams arena league teams. The Jets always show promise every three years when they play a weak schedule. Mangini is way overrated. The Bills always are rebuilding. The Dolphins are a joke (Between the Ricky WIlliams saga and the trade for TrInt Green.)

I grew up a Niners fan, so I feel ya on the dominance thing from back in the day. The pats are the closest thing, but not really. Free Agency has changed everything for the worst. Remember when you could count on Roger Craig, JOe Montana, and Jerry Rice to put on a show? Not anymore.

I don't know. I think Mangini is proving to be one darn good coach. But the Jets have historically been up and down. And I feel you on the Bills; they're always next year's team. The Fish have wasted their strengths by failing to address their weaknesses and they've been doing that for the last 25 years.

Agreed. When the 'Skins weren't in it, I'd always pull for the Niners because I loved Joe Montana and Walsh ran a great ship. People forget about the great defensive players he brought on. I remember, in the '84 season, every member of their secondary went to the Pro Bowl. Lott was his star defender, for good reason, but Walsh and the Niners brought in guys like Michael Carter and Charles Haley, too. I think it's a shame Roger Craig doesn't get Hall of Fame consideration, and John Taylor may be the second best No. 2 receiver ever (next to John Stallworth).

Now I'm rambling . . . but do I ever love football.

OI!! There's no one here thats more long suffering than the Saints....so while y'all lament a couple lean years between Super Bowl titles, I'll just sit over here and revel in the fact that the Saints actually made it to the NFC Championship game in my lifetime.....AND that they are actually being mentioned in several publications as the NFC favorite to go to the SB....

.....cuz ya never know how long it'll be until the next time....nod

It's actually been 15 years for my beloved Redskins . . . but who's counting?

lol

But no NFL team has suffered longer than the Saints. They had a couple of good years in the late 80's/early 90's with Bobby Hebert, Dalton Hilliard, Rickey Jackson, et al. Man, y'all had one of the best linebacking corps the league had ever seen at that time.

But I think their offensive production will win them the division. Because the level of competition isn't as strong in the NFC, I think the teams with experienced QBs and consistency on both sides of the ball will be there in the end. I see NO, Philly and Seattle as the teams to beat. Grossman will doom the Bears. Arizona, San Fran and Dallas could take the next step but there are too many question marks.

So, this may be the year for your Saints!

I think all this "Mangenius" talk is ridiculous. It's obvious his best defensive player(Vilma) is more suited for the 4-3, but "Mangenius" is sticking with the 3-4 no matter what. A coach is supposed to put his best players in the best position to make plays. Vilma was a beast in Herm's scheme.

Vilma's saying all the right things, but you know he's frustrated inside. I won't be surprised if he asks to be traded after the season.

HINT: For all you gamers out there, don't buy PS3 Madden 2008 - stick with the PS2 version. Graphics aren't as sweet, but the gameplay is much better.

There was only one thing wrong with those teams.....the damned 49ers were SO GOOD at the same time that they didn't stand a chance....in '87, the Saints went 12-3, by far the best season in their history....the Niners went 13-2, and the difference was the game when head coach Jim Mora gave his famous "Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda" speech....

I agree....barring injury, if nothing else, the Saints should be entertaining to watch...for the right reasons instead of the comical relief of past years.... lol

My roommate is a Skins fan, and they are interesting, but will finish : 9-7

With all respect to the Aint's, the Dolphins pride hinges on something that happened 25 years ago during their perfect season. I have watched Marino get to a SB when I was younger and get his ass whooped by the 49ers.

The Saints are at least respectable and interesting. They improved. Nick Satan set us back a few years by quitting on us, but I really lost respect for my team with how they screwed Culpepper.

Saints willl be 12-4 the Fish 6-10

Well, the Fish chose the wrong QB to begin with. ReneGade should be thanking Saban. They had a shot at Brees and they took Culpepper.

I'd take the under on 9 wins right now. QB is a huge question mark, though I have some faith in Campbell's ability and poise.

This is the second-straight season the teams have met in the preseason. The Seahawks are 3-2 all-time against the Raiders in preseason play, including last years 30-7 win at Qwest Field also in the preseason finale.

Oakland won the first preseason game played between these two teams, 45-28, on September 4, 1976. Seattle won the following preseasons matchup, 12-10, in 1977 in the Kingdome. The teams then split the next two meetings in Oakland, with Seattle winning 24-19 on August 8, 1996, and dropping a 20-0 decision on August 24, 2000.

There is a long history between the Seahawks and Raiders when both teams were members of the AFC West from 1977-2001. The Seahawks are 23-27 all-time vs. the Raiders in the regular season. The 50 games played against the Raiders are the second most against any other team besides the Denver Broncos whom the Seahawks have faced 51 times.

In the regular season, the Seahawks are 14-10 in games played in Seattle.

The Seahawks and Raiders have squared off twice in the postseason with each team winning once. Seattle lost to the Los Angeles Raiders 30-14 in the 1983 AFCChampionship Game in the Seahawks first-ever conference title appearance on January 8, 1984. The following season, Seattle returned the favor defeating the Raiders 13-7 in the AFCWild Card Game.

Rodney Harrison's suspended for the first four games of the season. Something to do with HGH.

I wonder who'll pick up Byron Leftwich now that he's been cut by the Jags.
