Well I'm no Brit, but I love "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz"

I didn't find them hard to follow at all....but then, I did get some practice understanding British comedy watching BBC when I was stationed in Germany....

I tried to like it. I really did. But, maybe I have to watch "Shaun of The Dead" to understand. A lot of foreign humor is funny to me, though. Like, "Jimmy Carr" (The guy who hosted that show called "Distraction" on "Comedy Central"). There's a funny "Brit". His stand-up on "Comedy Central" was crazy. I was laughing at every joke this guy delivered. He was one of the those, "Shoot from the base. No shit-staller", deadpan deliverers. How many people here have seen him?

Humour that is offensive just for the sake of being offensive. It's one thing when the joke-teller is trying to get a point across (George Carlin, South Park, Borat, etc.) or when there's the approach of telling the joke that's so painfully unfunny it becomes funny. But when it's racist or homophobic or sexist just for the hell of it, the haha is lost and I've got to question the motives of the person telling it.

I find really dumb shit and stoner humour hilarious. Maybe it's because I hang out with a bunch of 19 year old stoner boys. hmmm

Anything of Mitch Hedberg's I adore (God bless his stoner ass. He's up in Heaven gigglin' away with Jesus over cheese graters, no doubt)

George Carlin's older humour, wherein he talks about plane flights and whoopee cushions and the like more than his recent political and social references. Not that that stuff's not good, but it's an entirely different style of humour.

Brent Butt (fellow Canucks'll know this guy!) has this whole bit about how with enough money you could buy Red Deer, Alberta, pave it and re-build it with Nerf equipment. It's so dumb, but I'm rolling on the floor every time I hear it. lol

I was pregnant, had a 10 month old baby with me, didn't understand the language so well, felt unsafe, hated the food - when you have morning sickness a ham and cheese sandwich won't stay down sad it had to be a hot meal!

The people were really nice though mushy

Insult comedy (Sarah Silverman).

i think she's pretty funny - she comes across as an insult comedian, but usually her jokes are crafted so she's actually making fun of herself.

It's OK with me if you like her humor. But I still don't like her even if she makes fun of herself and at the same time manages to insult other people.

i have a friend who doesn't like her because she thinks sarah silverman is kind of a one-trick pony. she has the one schtick - shock humor which ends up being self-depricating - and that's it. and i really get that point and i do think sarah doesn't have a whole lot of range to her humor, but i can't help but find her funny. yeah, different strokes, i guess...

racial humor when done for shock value.

Richard Pryor making fun of how whites talked, was very funny to me..it wasn't done to hurt anyone. Eddie Murphy copying Richard Pryor making fun of white people also, was funny to me, and not done to hurt anyone.

Yeah! Do you remember that funny bit on "Wanted: Live in Concer!" where "Richard Pryor" tells the "White" guy with the camera, "Sit yo' ass down, man!" with a twisted alternation of his already high voice. Then he goes on to make of a scenario of the guy boasting to a friend that he had gotten a picture of Richard Pryor by saying, "Hey, I got this picture of Richard Pryor!" And the guy would supposedly reply with a redneckish accent saying, "Wayl, hoo geeyives uh fuck!?!" Richard Pryor is nuts. God, this post sucks. It didn't come out right. redface

he's this one comedian guy who is really unfunny but has a nice ass.

falloff

You know...a friend of mine lent me a Dane Cook CD, before he went mainstream. I had no clue as to who he was or what he looked like.

I listened to it in the car...and after the first 10 or 15 minutes, I couldn't listen to it anymore. There was nothing funny in his routine for me. I was sure that I'd never hear that name again.

Then of course, he's on HBO and in moves & all that...and after seeing him, I couldn't help but wonder if it wasn't his LOOKS that helped him get ahead...'cuz surely it isn't his TALENT.
