Moderator | DevotedPuppy said: I don't like what I call "gross, juvenile humor." Stuff like American Pie, Something About Mary, etc. where the jokes are very immature. Also don't find the "Friends" humor funny--I actually think a lot of it is mildly offensive (homophobic, esp. Ross/Chandler/Joey lines). Not a big fan of physical/slapstick comedy either (America's Funniest Videos is decidedly NOT funny.)
Since my post is making me seem like I don't have a sense of humor, I feel compelled to state for the record that I like dry humor, sarcasm, irony, and wit. The type of humor that requires a bit of thought to get it. I agree 100% with this. In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

I think that is one of the only "goofy" movies I like mostly because the idea was just so absurd! Those ones when they cause a reality scene, like a staged car wreck
or convincing someone the ran someone over or killed a pet. Candid Camera, Punked. NBC Bloopers and Practical Jokes. Water buckets on people, slipping on banana peels. I don't find staged realty situations funny. People understress is well harsh.

Maybe I've gotta be part of the culture or have studied it, but some (Like, two or three jokes, somewhere in there) were mildly humorous. "Agnostic, are you. We have a pill for that."= MEH!!! I think you have to be British. It nails British countryside/village life PERFECTLY.

i think she's pretty funny - she comes across as an insult comedian, but usually her jokes are crafted so she's actually making fun of herself.

it's kind of sad (ish ) I guess but it depends for me. Usually I don't like "stupid" comedy but occasionally I'll find myself rolling out of my chair laughing at the most idiotic routines.
I honestly think there's a point when something is so stupid and unfunny that it is, in fact, absolutely hilarious. I can't say I dislike one type of humor because I might not always and there's probably some exception somewhere, strangely enough. HE'S COMING AGAIN

I've seen episodes that cracked me up, and it's obviously very intelligent, but in general I find it's way too self consciously clever & offensive, and not actually funny. [Edited 8/22/07 17:33pm] My Legacy

[Edited 8/22/07 17:33pm] i've seen really witty stuff on this show, but i think the humor gets SO cynical and SO mean-spirited that i can only take it in five-minute doses. of course, this coming from someone who LOVED ren & stimpy

Mean, senseless and unintelligent humor especially it's laced with cussing through out, that’s not funny it's just plain stupid to me. [Edited 8/22/07 18:26pm]

I hate myself for finding Friends funny. It makes me feel like such a demographic. Well, hating it makes you belong to the elite. Is that better?

I am not above a fart joke
to me the question would be easier to answer if you asked what I DID find funny. Actually not even that is easy to answer I like the absurd best, most other things will only get a chuckle out of me

Yeah, there's definitely a fine line. I'm by no means a PC-psycho, trust! But referring to every middle-eastern as Akhmed and using the same tired 20-Mexicans-in-an-Astrovan quips are incredibly tired. There's nothing clever about it. Call me insane, but when I listen to my satellite comedy channels, George Lopez's standup gives me a giggle at times with his "Mira. Mira.", yet Carlos Mencia's makes me want to ram my car into children. He's trying to hard to be Joe Rogan--crass for the sake of shock value. Unintelligent. Another thing that's just not funny. Unless it's Sarah Silverman. |

I really hate that Something Awful website. Endless, meandering articles from misanthropic assholes that have no concept of pace or subtlety (although I'm sure they think they are masters of both). Their only good content is reader submitted. ~ I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR ~

Oh, yeah! That "Real Movie" segment on the first season of "The Chappelle's Show" had me rolling when he satired that movie. I don't understand what's wrong with "Jim Breur", but (With no offense to anyone who is mentally-challenged), he seems like he's either been riding "The Cheese Bus" for all his life or he's higher than "Cheech & Chong" has ever been. He's like the equivalent of the result to a drunk and a weedhead conceiving a child. Dave Chappelle: "YEAH!!! Fuck Kenny!!! I hope he gets butt-fucked in jail!" Jim Breur: "YEAH!!! BOOTY-FUCK KENNY, MAN!!!! YEAH!!!" And, how about that "Guillermo Diaz"? "Hell yeah, I sucked toes! Hello! Welcome to Popcopy. How can I help you?" [Edited 8/22/07 23:52pm]
