It's a community, not just a destination spot.

Kind of like south beach but without the drag queens and glitz.

But do you get there in a boat?

http://www.islandofnantuc...there.html

You're awfully interested in that question!

1) I'm pretty smart and funny, huh?

2) You seem to know a whole lot of pop culture. How did this come about?

3) How did you find your way to the org. Then to GD?

I like these, too!

1) You are the Roomba of smart and funny.

2) I think it runs in the family - my mom was always a pop culture junkie.

3) Googling Prince for some reason or other. Took me a while to even discover there was a GD!

Mr. Imago:

1) Aside from your current 'do, what was your favorite haircut ever?

2) How did you acquire such mad Photoshop skillz (as the kids say)?

3) What is the most valuable thing you've learned from Buddhism?

1) Why Bruce?
2) What's your favorite thing to do in Toronto?
3) If you had to live in another city, which would it be and why?

Ooh - I like these questions! smile

1) I think his post-Born in the U.S.A. work is some of the most sophisticated songwriting out there (especially Tunnel of Love; Human Touch and Lucky Town) and he's a great live performer - his shows run the gamut from hysterical to very moving and inspiring.

2) Hang out on Queen Street*.

3) London, New York or L.A (as much as I hate the shallowness of L.A., you can't beat the weather!

*Although Queen is very long street, usually just saying "Queen Street" implies you're referring to the stretch that Wikipedia describes thusly:

The western end of Queen (sometimes simply referred to as "Queen West") is now best known as a centre for Canadian broadcasting, music, performance, fashion, and the visual arts.

This section begins at University and runs to roughly Lansdowne.

Pour toi:

1. How did you first get into Prince?

2. Besides Bjork, who are you most looking forward to seeing at V-Fest?

3. To what do you credit your fashion sense?

biggrin

I'm looking forward to Queen Street.

1. Purple Rain. Loved it as a child. Was a fairly avid fan till about Diamonds and Pearls and then I had my falling out with Prince. Didn't buy another album till I met Darin (endorphin74) in about '96. I was at a house party of his and Forever in My Life came on the stereo and I impressed him by singing every word. We ended up sitting up till 5am watching the Lovesexy video. Over the next few years I went into all the back catalog of stuff I missed and/or hated at the time and the rest is history.

2. Amy Winehouse, Artic Monkeys, Princess Superstar, Jamie T... I'm really not up on what the kids today are listening to, so I'm kind of excited to read some reviews and just kind of wander, hoping I catch something new to like.

3. Yikes. I don't know. lol I keep my eyes open when I'm walking around to stuff I might like. TV, magazines, people on the street... I don't think I'm all that original really, I think I just have an eye for putting things together and knowing what suits me. Anything can strike my fancy and I'll decide it's my new thing, something from an old black and white movie or something from a housewife at Target. lol

1. The greek:

2. LMAO. Thanks for the compliment. I learned to use photoshop in 2003/2004 when Nana posted his first Prince photoshop contest. I'm not really "good" technically as I don't really know what have the features are. I just know a few tricks, etc. etc.

3. Compassion. I've learned to empathize through Buddhism. This doesn't make me a good person, and I'm filled with flaws. But more aware of them now and more willing to try and address them despite my slip ups.

If I have a fashionable family member, I've never met them. My mother was a farm girl and I don't think I've ever seen her wear make-up. She wears sweatshirts that say "world's greatest grandmother" embroidered on them. My dad wears whatever my mother buys for him. My brother is a bit of a redneck and wears mostly jeans and sports t-shirts/jerseys etc.

I think maybe it started from me trying to break away from my family. I started buying and even making my own clothes when I was 14...

1. How's life down under?

Exciting and scary at the same time! I have to decide on two competing PhD offers soon, and it won't be easy! Tracy and I celebrated our 1st anniversary last month- can't believe time goes so quickly!

2. Other than your family and friends, what do you miss most in the US?

I'll count my dogs in with the family, so other than that, I think I miss Lake Huron. I haven't swum in a real body of water for quite awhile. sad

3. Have you met Kylie yet?

I haven't met her, but Tracy and I did see 5 of her concerts at the end of 2006. lol However, I made a big sign that I held up at one of them, and she did acknowledge it! Can't wait for the new album.

2. Sat down on the floor, legs out, knees bent, body leaning forward then back again, times 25, twice a day.

3) My son has a great job here in town!!! He was hired by the Santa Barbara News-Press, as a staff writer. He has been at his new job for a month now! Thanks for asking!
