Do you believe.... Do you believe world peace is attainable? If you do, how do you see it coming about? If you don't, why not?
I believe that it is attainable and will be attained once we make the decision that it is what we truly desire.

If everyone just masturbated in the morning, and right before bed, the world would be a lot happier! I mean, I'm generally happy after I do it, aren't you? Get rid of hate, everybody masturbate!

I really don't think that it is attainable at all. I don't see it happening. Why? I don't believe it is possible for everyone to agree on the same thing, to bring about world peace.

World peace will never be attainable. As long as there is man, there will be conflict.
There is always something to hate. There will always be people who are different, and people who do not understand things that are different. Thus, there will NEVER be world peace. It's not even a nice thought. Gotta keep things interesting somehow. Think how boring world peace would actually be! But let us masturbate in hope anyways... World Peace is attainable under a One World Order that follows along the lines of John Lennon's song, "Imagine" -- but is an exclusionary world that will not believe in absolute truth and will "crucify" those who do. So, I guess that'll be okay for most of you, but definitely not for me. If it comes down to it, I will not deny the Truth.

I believe that what we think, what we believe, tends to create our reality. If we do not believe that world peace is attainable, then it can never be for us. But once we begin to believe that it is possible, we open new doors for ourselves.

I believe that the only way to know peace is to first know it's opposite (war). And I agree that perhaps there are times when the only way to achieve something is to first create it's opposite. However, I do believe that world peace is attainable. It begins with love. Love of self, love of others, love of life. I think that we've desensitized ourselves to the atrocities that occur in the world. It's perfectly okay to show on tv people killing each other, but not people engaged in such a normal loving situation as making love. It always amazes me how some religious organizations will condemn a movie if it shows a little too much skin, but you never hear them condemning an action movie that shows the taking of life. Something is wrong with this picture in my humble opinion.

I agree luv4u. How do we teach countries to get along though when the people within the country cannot get along? We teach by example. How can we be an example to other countries and to each other?

In fact conflict is healthy in that it teaches us how to react to situations that may come up. The problem with conflict is always in the resolution. Too many seem to think that conflict resolution means using brute force. I don't think that world peace would be boring, but in fact quite interesting. It would be something new and exciting to undertake. However the belief that it would be boring is something that drives us. We believe that we cannot have all that we desire and so we create that reality for ourselves and thus we have the world we live in. Yes it keeps it interesting, that's for sure, but too many people hurt in this current system.

Obtaining world peace does not mean it would have to be exclusionary. In fact the total opposite. We already live in an exclusionary world, and that is where the conflict arises. It is with acceptance of another, what another chooses to believe, and how they choose to worship that we discover true peace. As long as we remain exclusionary, we will have conflicts. What I mean is for instance many religions believe their religion is the one true religion and if you do not believe as they do, then you are "doomed to hell". There are other examples of being exclusionary, such as race issues, ethnicity issues, gender issues, and age issues. It is because we tend to be very exclusionary that we have to make laws to protect minorities, the elderly, and the young. Once we learn to accept ourselves and others for who they are, for what they believe, that we will begin to heal some of the world hurts in my opinion.

i do not believe that world peace is attainable - men have been fighting for peace/love/freedom for how many thousands of years be it a difference in perspective - a difference of thought a difference of religion...
many say they desire to live in peace and as One, but people are either liars or dreamers - take your pick they are dreamers in the regards that as long as they do not heed the evil in mens hearts they are only denying human nature ... they are liars in the respect that they are not stating out in the open the grounds at which they are willing to accept living in peace (i.e., religious preference, culture, language, etc) the evil that men have done, that they do and that will contuinue to reign on this world revolves around three things: Money, Power and Pussy...as long as these three are a part of society at large there will never be peace. many people will say many people have said, but never let the delusions of a PERFECT world be the illusions that cloud your head... love me hate me - the truth is an ugly beautiful thing!!! Hi ScarLett. I'll reply to your post soon. My little one isn't feeling well and I have him a doctor's appointment in a little while. As I only post generally when he is sleeping or playing contentedly by himself, I just wanted to take a moment to let you know that I respect your views but can't comment on them right now. Peace until later. [This message was edited Wed Oct 2 6:16:25 PDT 2002 by InfinitiesHeaven]

Yes, I do believe it is attainable.
And I also know that because of human emotions, jealousy, greed it would certainly be a challenge. But if we converged on world peace as a whole I believe with all my heart that it could happen. Have any of you ever meditated with 40 other people? It is an incredible experience, one of peace and calm like I have never known. Battier keep those hands to your side! ^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^

Hi ScarLett. I'm sorry but our conversation will have to wait awhile longer. Unfortunately when you are a mother, there are times when even world peace must be put on a back burner. And nah you haven't erred in your thinking, we just feel differently is all. I only wanted to present my side. Thanks for being patient. I will get back to this at a later time. Much love.

You see, Xena popped out a child, Eve, and all the Gods were after the baby. As I recall, Xena fought all the Gods, leaving Ares alive (Kevin Smith How unfortunate he died..) and Aphrodite. Eventually, she had to bring them both back, and stuff, cuz the world was dull. There was no war, and no love. And then she got Aphrodite back, and there was no war. Ya know, so it was still dull! There must be an even distribution! Or something like that. -------

Mostly when I'd been reading about meditation in Buddhism. For awhile, I took a special interest in Buddhism. I freaked my dad out once, he came into my room, and I have a couple of statues of Buddha, the little ones you know, and I had some incense going, heh, and I was sitting in the floor trying to meditate. As for the real thing - I'm 16. I think masturbation is okay for now, right. Besides, I'm doing it for peace. -------

Positivity Can't B without Negativity etc...Only in our dreams can we have such a thing. So many try 2 create there own Utopia, but once again the way life is setup there's just no way it can B perfect.
All things must play out in this world. Good Vs Evil are the stars of the show, while happiness & saddness are the co-stars. The duel is a never ending cycle of give and take. Start without a end...this is the way of the world. Our life on earth may cease, but the battle that has been here since the start of mankind will remain. 2 many difference's about everything under the sun 4 the world 2 think & B as one...even 4 the highest & purest cause. Beautiful thought in someways if it could work. But 2 others it would B there worse nightmare, (refects the differences in the heart & minds of people)...So Peace on the global tip...won't happen. Man always has a poor or sometimes a good reason 2 fight/go 2 war. So I sing "Party Up" until then, we don't wanna fight nomore!

If 20 th century hadn't destroy the idea of socialism (I mean true & "intelligent" solidarity between the people, not the Lenine bs) maybe...
I think the better comes after the worst (in Europe 2 world wars have been necessary before the idea of a real community with one money etc..) and that sometimes evil people/ systems are taking control but great leaders might appear sorry for my poor english...
