It's a documentary where they show the neighborhood I live in now. I'm one street north of where the documentary starts.

I think your avatar must be what you are striving for with your new mullet. If you do that then you can get a dog with a matching haircut and put your own picture there.lol

It's dirty, it's big, it's violent...ya, there are some cool things about it but it's not a place I would ever want to raise my kid.

I live in Ottawa, which is about 4 hours north/east of t.o.

I have good friends that just moved to Anchorage, Alaska. Supposedly the winters in the northern tier states (US) are worse than Alaska. I'm guessing that if you live 4 hours north of Toronto that your winters are COLD.

We basically have the same weather as Toronto. Cold winters and hot, humid summers.

confused Um... This documentary is representative of absolutely nothing except the very specific clique these misguided brothers represent.

There is nothing intrinsically Torontonian OR black OR poor about this crap. I'd go so far as to say these are simply a bunch of wannabees trying with all their might to find their place in some absurd U.S.-imported gangsta culture. Thousands of people from similar backgrounds live in Toronto and contribute to making the city work as well as its always been known for. Parkdale, for its part, is definitely working-class and isn't free from the hardships that often come with that, but it is hardly the Compton of the north. rolleyes

Well, I see drug dealers and prostitutes everywhere here in Parkdale, at almost any time of day or night. But I was amazed to see that even they have respect for people.
I do believe the documentary doesn't show the reality, but shows the darker side of it only.

Of course. While Toronto moves forward, building $1,000,000+ luxury condo buildings and the like, many working-class folk in Parkdale, etc., have to hustle -- and sometimes illegally. Same story in any metropolitan city. That stupid documentary, though, is intended to make its narrow, dark reality seem universal and absolute rock-bottom. And that's just BS.
