I am free again, but feeling guilty. Yesterday my son and heir went to Italy with his grandparents for 3 weeks!
Last night, my wife an I went out for cocktails and dinner. My son is my absolute world and I miss him so much already, but bugger me does it feel good to have a bit of freedom again. We have come under criticism from others though, and I just wondered what the thoughts were here. Are we being selfish, or is it more selfish (as I believe) to keep him to ourselves? This is not easy, and we are both already suffering less than 24 hours in. I hope these summer trips to Italy will become great memories for my little man, help his Italian, help him bond with his Grandparents and Aunt and give his parents time to talk and spend valuable time together. What do you think? [Edited 7/27/07 4:58am] Happy is he who finds out the causes for things.Virgil (70-19 BC). Virgil was such a lying bastard!

and yet I feel far from normal! Normal has become early wakenings, nights infront of the TV - tired. Happy is he who finds out the causes for things.Virgil (70-19 BC). Virgil was such a lying bastard!

I'm not a parent but those lines, right there, say everything we need to know. Who are these critics?? Cheeky . It sounds to me as if they're jealous of the time you and your wife are spending together, maybe. It's not as if you're abandoning your son - you have his best interests at heart. He gets to spend quality time with his grandparents - something they're thrilled about, I'm sure - and you get to spend quality time with your wife. Excellent! Enjoy the next few weeks. . I did a similar thing with my travelling. Just quitting my job and going. You need to do these things whilst your relatively young otherwise you will never do them at all. Of cause the thought of where do you go after your return does nag but it shouldnt be too much of an issue if you have a half decent CV.
I am in a bit of a spot today. Ive just got a new position to start on Monday which seems adequate although Ive just received an email from my ex boss asking if I would like a new position at my old place which I very much enjoyed doing. Im going to see what it is first but what a quandry! There's Joy In Expatriation.

OMG...some days the org makes me want to throw my laptop!!!!!
I just typed a long message Anywho! Short version.. I think it is good for everyone. He will create wonderful memories for the family and you will get to spend some alone time with your wife. Hopefully both of you will get some much needed rest. And... thanks to that sweet little boy I am saying "Oh dear" all of the time. I can still hear him saying it and it makes me

Im going to see what it is first but what a quandry! But what a great quandry to have. I would base it soley on there flexabilty to let you come to London to see the gigs Well Ive sorted it now. Im going to take the new job. Going back there is sort of a step back and they would be paying me less then the new position I've been offered. I've still got my mates at the old job plus my ex boss said she'd see me soon for a beer so it's nice to know you've been appreciated and that I've got a good reference. I will also be paid weekly which is handy for the Prince gig(s) too. With this new job, it will also give me the opportunity to plan what I really want to do which is more than likely a TEFL course possibly then teaching in somewhere like Japan for a short while. Don't feel guilty. You haven't got anybody answer too. You're a clever dick aswell so I'm sure you'll get something if not better when the time comes. There's Joy In Expatriation.
