I'm getting a wisdom tooth pulled tomorrow!

I have a wisdom tooth that's cracking and I have to get it pulled. I'm so miserable because I'm really busy this week and I think I'm going to feel like shit.

They say it's pretty small, however, so maybe it won't be as bad as I'm imagining.

I haven't had any of them pulled yet, so I don't know what to expect. I just remember people looking like chipmunks afterwards.

Don't worry just a little bit of pain for a whole lot of good in the long run. I do sympathise though as it's not a pleasant experience although the thought of it is a lot worse than it actually is.

I've not actually had mine pulled out but I have had a large tooth pulled out in the chair. A tooth was growing at an angle which needed to be fixed by a brace which ran around the back of my mouth. Its objective was to straigten the tooth but it didnt work. As such, the dentist yanked it out with a mild anysthetic. It was quite painful as I was only about 9. It was a terrible year that thinking about it but something I shall not get into. Anyway, yeah, if its necessary for you to have it done just try and be brave.

Me too. I'm 35 so I've built it up in my mind quite a bit in that time. I guess it's worse for some than for others. I think I only have 2 of them.

But I guess it's kind of necessary. My tooth is falling apart.

i had four done at once. the first two were out before i could even blink.

the other two made the dentist work a little but with the nitrous oxide i wasn't anxious at all! it's lovely stuff, i recommend it. love

going home i laid on the couch for a day using advil to quell the pain.
but things healed nicely and i didn't bruise at all like i thought i would.

yeah it's going to be uncomfortable for a couple days but don't put it off.

I'd rather be awake. Part of what I'm afraid of is the drugs. I don't want to be put under. I'd almost rather not have painkiller.

sure, it would be more pain than I want to endure, but I like as little painkiller as possible. Numbness feels weird and i don't like it. Pain feels normal, as long as it's a manageable amount.

Both my friends here at work have been knocked out but the nitrous oxide sounds like a better option.

I was put out when mine were extracted. Thank god, or I would have fainted anyway.

Why won't you? I had to go to hospital to get mine extracted. The dentist wouldn't do it in his surgery. It was great really, because I had a couple of days off work too, and people running around at my every whim.

I went to a maxilofacial specialist - I was out- took him about 20 mins- don't remember the ride home or the 4 hrs after getting home. Woke up felt pretty good- never had to take any pain meds. Done on a Friday and back to work Monday.

Wish I had done it sooner actually.

it's something to do with the oral surgeon thinking 'young people don't need to be put under'...confused

Just got back. The tooth was small and they didn't have to cut my gums to get to it, so the pulling was actually very easy. Now I need to wait for the novacane to wear off and see if it's gouing to hurt bad.

I rewarded myself with a copy of Planet Earth. Now I need to see if it's actually a reward smile
