So, I didn't start a thread about it yesterday...but there was a bad fire here the noght before last nite, and a little boy from my VBS class 2 weeks ago...his mom and 3 yr old brother got killed in the fire.
There were TWO other fires in town that same night. Hmmmmm. So, I couldn't sleep last night, because we don't have a fire plan. We haven't talked to eachother or the kids about what to do. So, I was talking to a friend about it today. She said she told her kids to come to HER room....but I said, I think they should wait for us to come to their room. My two kids rooms are rite next to eachothers, and across the hall, from me and jer. So I was thinking jer could get Noah and I'd get Daisy. What do you's think? Also...even if my house is brick and someone poured gasoline all aroun it and tried to lit it, would it catch fire? I've reached in darkness and come out with treasure
I layed down with love and I woke up with lies Whats it all worth only the heart can measure It's not whats in the mirror but what's left inside

The brick won't burn but if someone pours gasoline then the gasoline itself would burn. And I'm sure you have plenty of burnable things inside the house, plus maybe the roof is made partly of wood? As for the fire plan I think the most important thing is that whoever wakes up and notices what is going on alerts the others (by yelling for example). Then your course of action will depend on where the fire is located and how much smoke has developed. .

Sometimes, but there are other signs that are usually more evident like heat, smoke, smell etc. I have more of a fear of gas than of fire though, because gas can put you deeper to sleep and slowly kill you without giving you a chance to react.

Ok ... call your local fire department and ask for fire plan ideas
and do some online research you do have working fire alarms in your home yes ? they have fire alarms now that you can record your voice into to remind the children what to do, my friend has them for her young children in their rooms for your neighbors and their families

Thanks, the whole thing was really sad. The mom went back in for the three yr old and...that was it. The voice thing sounds awesome. I'm gonna look into that. "Okay Noah and Daisy. Don't panic. Stay in your rooms till Mommy comes..." Awwww! I've reached in darkness and come out with treasure

Awwww! exactly Kim's are very cool... her loving voice calm telling them what to do then repeating after you have your plan worked out practice it in a fun manner without fear - make it a semi game and use the alarms to practice as well then IF - that ever happens your children wont be caught off guard nor will the be filled with even more fear then what may naturally come up

If you think this is scary...you need a plan
http://www.youtube.com/wa...-mpQRJD5wU Sure it's a tree on fire, but I have seen other videos that are similar. Fire spreads quickly. You should Teach your kids about Fire Safety including the damage of smoke Find out what areas are prone to fire in your home Have Fire alarms in every room and in the hallways Develop a plan for escape, which includes where to meet or an alt place and what to do (basically get out) Don't worry about fire extinguishers. They are only good for a fire the size of a small waste can and waste time. They should just be used near where you cook. Christian Zombie Vampires

Yeah, spacey...you would think we'd have a plan since we heat our house via FIRE PLACE I'm gonna get into gear with this. I can't take you seriously with that avatar though.
