Transformers was good on ONE account; it was a nice summer blockbuster bubblegum movie. Well, two accounts; Shia. Nice to look at, wanna see him in a REAL movie now.

The action was fragmented, the plot overly nicked from Independence Day. And TOTALLY stupid. "Ooh, we got incoming hostile killer robots, let's lure them downtown"

Why was Ratatouille amazing? Script was good. Characterisation amazing. The humour splendid; mixing great animation with a witty script. The crazy chef was unbelievably funny due to the fact they managed to DRAW him funny, as well as give him the funny bad guy texts. Love it.

Transformers was a movie where you had to just suspend your disbelief and enjoy. I mean, it's based on a toy line from the 80's...it's not gonna be Shakespeare. I wanted to see some of the toys I saw/played with as a kid kick some butt, and I did. With that said, I am looking forward to Thundercats.

I probably would have liked Ratatouille a bit more if I had not seen it 2 days after I saw Transformers, was not guilted into going by my mom, and was not dealing with summer burnout from my job. I'll probably give it another shot when it comes out on DVD, since I *do* like the stuff Pixar does usually.

I thought that movie "Angela" was bad

last night I saw "little children" and it was better than a lot of things I have seen this year, still not great though.

It's interesting that it's called "Die Hard 4.0" pretty much everywhere else in the world. Maybe they thought we'd think the "Live Free" part would be too flag-waving or something? hmmm

probably just because it's a ridiculously clumsy title.

The only movie I've seen from this year that I liked was Hot Fuzz. The second best after that was Die Hard, which is sad because I thought it was kinda lame.

I couldn't make it all the way through Pirates III without falling asleep, so probably that for the worst. I made it as far as the part with the ship full of Johnny Depp, I guess they realized he was the only thing people really liked about those movies because they shove him down your throat to the point you're just tired of him. Transformers sucked too, but I didn't expect anything different from a trash monger like Micheal Bay, and that franchise had already been run into the ground by a bunch of shitty modern anime revivals anyway.

I got bored with it too, partly because of the convoluted plot and all the expository dialogue that was included to explain it, but also because of the long and monotonous battle scenes toward the end.

I usually try to avoid bad movies, so I don't intentionally go to many of them, though probably the worst movie I saw in the last year was Snakes On A Plane (though it was intentionally cheesy and cornball). I was pleasantly surprised by Rocky Balboa (Rocky VI) and Live Free and Die Hard (Die Hard IV). What is really disappointing is how lame the other sequels are this year (Spiderman 3, Shrek the Third, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Evan Almighty, Ocean's Thirteen, Harry Potter); they're not exceptionally bad, but the premises are tired and plotlines seem tacked on for no apparent reason other than to feature some hot young studly actor/actress or use some wild CGI special effects. Hopefully Rush Hour 3 won't suck, and The Bourne Ultimatum should be allright if they stay faithful to the novel.

OOOO...good one!!! thumbs up!

I really enjoyed Black Snake Moan(!), but I doubt I'd call it best of the year.

But I've barely seen any this year. sad Somehow I've fallen out of my movie habit. But get back on that.

It was amongst the better movies I've seen since I've been here....and I've had a bad year picking DVDs so far.....so its entirely possible that my rating scheme may be a bit skewed.....

Best: Inland Empire (that was this year, right?)

Worst: Transformers (I was fine with it being stupid - I mean, it's the freakin TRANSFORMERS, hello - but two and a half hours of loud, screeching scraping metal noises and mid-air robot car crashes really didn't do great things for my nervous system)...though Spiderman 3 may have been even worse, with the musical numbers and "evil emo Peter Parker" rolleyes
