Any vegans around?

I'm looking for advice on meat-substitute products that aren't totally disgusting (like boca products ill). I'm not vegan, but a family member recently decided to become one so I'm trying to help her out by being vegetarian/vegan at least some of the time. Any recommendations/recipes would be very much appreciated. biggrin

It has cheese on it, so that is a no-no for vegans!

Morningstar farms has a mean faux sausage patty. I always get down on that stuff with my breakfast burritos.

If you haven't tried Morningstar Farms buffalo wings, you're totally missing out, seriously.

Trader Joes also makes FANTASTIC tofu corn dogs...though their other veggie meat substitutes suck.

If you're not into all that meat substitute stuff, then you can always make yummy and healthy stir fry dishes with pretty much whatever veggies you like. I like spicy so I always add in lots of Chinese chili sauce and maybe even some hot peppers. Serve it with jasmine rice. Good stuff.

OR, you can cube tofu and sautee it in garlic oil, and make veggie skewers with tofu and sauteed/grilled veggies...served with peanut sauce or sweet'n'sour sauce, it's good eats.

Or, hell, just make a pot of black beans and rice - leave out meat-based ingredients and have fun with spices and seasonings. There's TONS of Mexican and Italian food you probably already eat that don't involve meat and you just don't think about it.

I hardly eat any meat any way. I just don't like those meat substitutes. I've tried some of the Boca products and I hated them ill
