I say fuck it go. If you don't the terrorists win. Plus if you die, you will all die together as a family. They issue terrorist warnings all the time. I just traveled to Europe during all that bombing shit and then to seattle then back to L.A. Fuck it live your life!

True..although Europe is a big place

Speak with the travel agents you booked with. Or look online on their goverment site to see what the officials have to say to tourists entering. Also, I would check with your insurance company, assuming you did buy travel insurance. If you booked by credit card, most credit cards include travel insurance for things happening like this.

I did get travel insurance...it doesn't cover terrorists or government warnings...and I spoke to the travel agent and they said we would lose $2700 if we cancel unless they up grade the warnings to a "do not" travel instead of a reconsider travel sad
Apparently the warning has been the same since the bombings but for some reason they were reinforcing them ..has to make u wonder why though sad

They aren't too hot on keeping peoples custom are they?

...It's a tough call.. and a lot to lose.

...I've never been to Bali and don't know what the real threat is

...on the other hand governments don't issue warnings for nothing however much they might get slated

...That isn't much help I know, but I think only you can judge is what's right for you all.

I don't know what your consumer laws are like there, but it might be worth checking if they should have warned you of the threats when booking.

I know alot of the times, they just say that as a precautionary measure, and chances are they are just exaggerating it.

I had very big plans and all arrangements made for Sept 21, 2001. I spent months arranging this trip to fly out west. Then Sept 11th happened. Every one said- oh now you are going to have to cancel your plans.
No way- we went through with our trip- got on a plane and went where we had planned.
I know it is a little different because we had already been attacked but I refused to let fear disrupt our plans.

Sorry to hear about this happening now.
Both places look amazing to me.

why didnt u just spend your $$$ on going to one of the Aussie resorts in far north queensland??

*Much* cleaner, LESS touristy, you can safely drink the water, no terrorist "alerts" and you don't need 20 injections to go there.

gee whizz...why do westerners keep putting themselves in harms way?

confused

Well we have been north ...u don't need any injections to go to Bali and I wanted to experience another culture...although had these new alerts come up prior to booking I would have gone elsewhere

i don't know much about Fiji, but Bali is amazing! i think attack warning will always be on for Indonesia and these latest warnings may have something to do with the attacks in the UK.

Though Indonesia has the largest Muslim population in the world, most of the natives in Bali are peace loving Hindus.

i will say when was there we stayed about 2 mins away from the club that was bombed killing over 200 people, that was kind of freaky. and when the folks there give you first hand accounts it's even scarier. Also, about 2 months after visiting Bali, one of the restaurants we ate at and watched a traditional Balinese dance performance was bombed!!!

Anyways, it was one of the most beautiful places i've ever seen in my life! and you must visit the Floating Temple! Gorgeous!

Basically, i'm telling you to go, it's worth the risk.

Bali is beautiful, I love it there. Probably the place to avoid is the Kuta beach and bar areas. But places like Padangbai are less touristy and therefore safer.

Having said all that I totally understand your feelings - it's a tough call - God, I'm not helping at all am I?! lol

No ur not bawl I'm doing 5 nights at kuta .... bawl
I mean ur suppose to look forward to a holiday...now half of my thoughts during the day are tied up with feeling apprehensive sad

Shit, sorry! Look at it this way, it's a gorgeous place which I plan to return to. I loved it even more than Thailand. The people are friendly and you are made to feel very welcome. And, anyway, terrorism could befall you in your own country so go and have a fabulous time.

hug

(Although watch out for a drink called Arack Attack which I thought was a health drink but I ended up the most drunk I had ever been in my life).
