Exchanging Faulty Goods...

My DVD Recorder went kaput about a week ago. Yesterday, I bought a replacement. It was a complete cheapo no-brand item but I'd read good reviews online. It only cost £58.50...

Well, it doesn't work!!! It's fine if I record something under an hour or so, but anything over an hour results in it flashing up a message reading "Failed to stop current recording".

I'm not exactly rich, but I get paid next Friday.

I want to return the item as it's evidently faulty but I don't want an exchange for the same model. I want the £58.50 credited towards a more expensive model. I could buy a Panasonic for around £110.00. So, I'd only have to shell out another fifty quid if they let me do this.

My question is, do you think they'll let me exchange the faulty item for credit towards the more expensive Panasonic - or do you think they'll force a replacement of the same shitty cheapo model onto me?

I'm sure they'll let you exchange it for a more expensive model nod

If you were in America you could return it even if it wasn't faulty though smile
