Kindness to those serving

It has come to my attention that we have some org folk serving over seas that could use some support. Being a part of a war is hard enough but being part of one with a negative stigmatism is a hardship.

I am looking for people who would like to send a letter a card or a care package..... Read the following:

well first of all let me explain:
he really doesn't "need" anything but there are soldiers there that he works with who get nothing from anyone. One girl didn't even get a box for xmas so when I send stuff I just send a big variety of things so he can put the box out and everyone can just take what they want or need out of it. that said here are a few items which may come in handy for soldiers who don't make much money or who just want a taste from home.

female supplies--girly things like polish, stuff from bath and body works that smell good you know those things that we pick up on a whim when we need to feel pretty. I sent over some body spray and got all kinds of thanks

toys, yes toys like puzzles, legos, etcha sketch, games, something that can be put in a common area and every one can play with, suduko is big there.
books any kind magazines etc, they have access to all of this stuff but most won't buy it.
stationery envelopes pens- other than black military ones
blank Cds-itunes is big
FOOT POWDER!!! baby powder, anything to alleviate the heat these people are in layers and layers of clothing and it is averaging 120-130 degrees.
fruit like the snack pack stuff, actually any easy to carry snack stuff is great, they have a great chow hall but most don't have time to go there for every little hunger pain and snacks that can be carried are GREAT.
On that tip nothing that melts NO CHOCOLATE!!!
I don't know what else, when I send stuff I just go to the store and pick up stuff. I get some of everything like jerkey and that meat that is in foil packets. Homemade anything is appreciated cookies can be sent in a ziploc container taped shut and will keep for at least a week.

My husband is a platoon sergeant he has 12 soldiers that work with him the oldest of these is 22, there are 3 other sergeants and one major ( the guy in charge) so a total of 17 people will have access to the box. It doesn't have to be big, hell you could just send the cookies in a box and they will all be happy.

thanks so much for this karen they really appreciate anything they get a card a note a smile a funny email. It's hard for them to keep on being there knowing that people are against the war. It is important for them to be shown that even though the country is against the war it is not against them.

Due to sensitivities I am going to ask that you orgnote me for an address. My children and I are going to make this our project for the summer. I was enthralled with their awareness and ideas.... They thought sunblock was a must amongst other things. If cash is the best way for you my children would be more then happy to shop on your behalf and report back their haul in detail! woot! Also orgnote me for a paypal method.

What I do not want to see:

We are all aware of the lack of popularity of this war as well we would like to see our children returned to us.
If you take great exception to our presence in Iraq GREAT please send letters and concerns here http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/ If you would like to write your feelings on the war do it here: http://www.prince.org/msg/105 If my thread offends and incenses your sensibilities both accept my apologies and freedom of thought and simply click off.

I would definitely be interested in sending a package. I have several friends that are serving and I know how much they appreciate these things.

One of my classmates and now close friend has a husband serving in the heart of the battle. I would love to send something over. Fabby(said person) told me how much the soldiers appreciate anything even a letter from people in the states. So count me in. smile

thumbs up! CO-SIGN!!! clapping

I'm a platoon sergeant in charge of a platoon of cable installers....18 troops all together....and the info that Muse put out there is about as accurate as it gets...when we get care packages, its literally like a Christmas grab bag....there is rarely anything left in the box....everything is taken and used and eaten....lol The last time I was here, a lady from Cali was sending me boxes with trail mix and homemade banana bread...and my troopies would wipe it out with the quickness.....the bottom line is that its all appreciated, no matter how big or small the gesture....a box or a card...it has the same effect...

Muse....bow Thanks for the support....!!!
