By these disgusting dandelions. They keep coming back!

And now I will have to cut them down again

Even my neighbours have been invaded too.

Anyone got any ideas on how to kill these annoying weeds????

weedkiller or get the tool that is made for digging up the whole plant from the root. that was my 1st paying job for a man who's yard was perfect , when i was 10

When you cut the the yellow heads dry and tun to see so make sure you put those in the trash

I think they are pretty.

People can be so weird when it comes to their lawns. As long as it's cut short who cares if it's not perfect like a golf course.

I made wine out of the flowers one year. It was waaayyy too sweet, but it did the job!

I love dandelions.

Tortoises like them too.

Easy Dandelion Saute Recipe

Ingredients:
3 cups dandelion, washed and cut into 2-inch pieces
1 teaspoon oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)


Directions:

Pour oil into a large skillet over medium heat. Swirl to coat pan. Add garlic to pan and saute briefly for 15 seconds.

Drop dandelion greens into pan (some water clinging to the leaves is good), and saute for 2-3 minutes until greens are limp, tender and bright green. Sprinkle with soy sauce (and sesame seeds, if desired), and serve

Cream of Dandelion Soup

INGREDIENTS:
2 lbs. young dandelion greens
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 small carrot, diced
1 large onion, diced
1/4 cup flour
1 cup scalded milk
1 cup veal stock
1 cup heavy cream
1 Tablespoon Dijon mustard
2 slices bacon
6 baguette slices
1 garlic clove
sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
PREPARATION:
1. Wash and chop the dandelion greens.

2. Heat 4 tablespoons of the butter in a pot and saute the chopped greens until all the water has evaporated.

3. In the meantime, add the remaining butter to a skillet and saute the carrot and onion until the onion is translucent.

4.Add the flour and cook about 4 minutes.

5. Whisk in the scalded milk and bring to a boil.

6. Season with salt and pepper and simmer for 30 minutes to obtain a bechamel.

7. Add the stock to the dandelions and simmer until almost dry.

8. Strain the bechamel into the dandelions and mix well.

9. Pour into a blender and process.

10. Strain the soup into a clean pan. Whisk the mustard into the cream and add this mixture to the soup. Mix well.

11. Gently reheat the soup without allowing it to boil. Fry or microwave the bacon slices. Drain on paper towels and crumble. Add it to the soup.

12. Toast the baguette slices. Peel the garlic and rub it on the toast. Remove the crust from the toasted slices and cut them into into small cubes.
To serve:
Stir the soup, taste and correct seasoning. Ladle into 6 soup plates and sprinkle with the garlic croutons.

Dandelion Greens

1 - pound dandelion greens
4 - sliced bacon

Dressing
2 - Tablespoons bacon drippings
3 - Tablespoons vinegar
2 - Tablespoons sour cream
1 - egg yolk
2 - Tablespoons water
1 - teaspoon flour
1/2 - teaspoon salt
1 - Tablespoon sugar

Wash and shake greens dry.
In a skillet at moderate heat, fry bacon, remove from pan, drain on paper towels, and crumble.
Drain bacon drippings from skillet and reserve the 2 tablespoons drippings.

Return reserve to skillet and add the vinegar and sour cream.
In a small bowl, place egg yolk and blend in the water and flour.
Pour the egg yolk mixture into the skillet over low heat.
Stir constantly as dressing thickens.
Add the salt and sugar.
Bring to a quick boil and pour over greens.
Garnish with bacon.

The landscapers have to spray weedkiller every week.

They're back 4 days later I've gotten to the point where I dont care.

I live in the downtown core of a city and it's just teaming with wildlife - as is the case with pretty much every city. Just cuz you don't see them doesn't mean they are not there.

If you insist on killing them off do not use pesticides. It would be totally irresponsible if you did, not just for wildlife but for pets and even children.

Go organic.

Pesticides are practically banned here and will be totally banned soon.
