Dragon*Con http://www.dragoncon.org Anybody ever been to this annual convention in Atlanta, GA? I would be very appreciative of any stories, advice, or tips that anybody might be so kind as to share in regards to this Con, as the enormity of it seems a bit overwhelming. Thank you! Not sure what that says about me! Whatever it says about you, says about me as well. According to what I've read about DragonCon, one of its most popular events is the annual costume parade through downtown Atlanta, and I don't mind saying that that sounds like a grand time to me. Viva la nerds!

I am mainly interested in the costuming/cosplay aspect of things, but I was impressed by the wide variety of many guests slated to be there. A few would be interesting to check out, like Lance Henriksen - but especially the illustrious Bud Bundy, as I imagine his appearance really makes the convention.

It's fun just perusing photographs of past conventions. Some of the costumes are amazing in their elaborateness and how much effort was clearly invested.

Lance Henriksen would be cool to meet. I also noticed that Timothy Zahn'll be there. He wrote several Star Wars TPBs. I'm just starting the third book in a trilogy series. But NOTHING tops the immortal Bud Bundy! Glad to meet a fellow Wiggumite btw... [Edited 5/31/07 7:20am] [Edited 5/31/07 7:23am] "I ordered no broth! It looks very cool.
Never been to one, though. GenCon would be nice, too. And Comicon. I have been to a couple of the Star Wars Celebrations (2 & 3), and they were awesome.

The photo of the multiple Princess Leia's in bikinis with Jabba the Hut is really something! Some of them are scarily accurate! [Edited 5/31/07 7:40am]

I would love to go to one of the SW Celebrations! Are you a fan of Star Trek also? I see you are in MN - recently there was a Star Trek convention held in Minneapolis, and both William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy were there.

Wonka, is that pic from the recent Star Wars thing in L.A.? No, sir, it's a picture from a past DragonCon parade. The cardboard box Stormtroopers are Star Wars costumes are not the only costumes: I also saw photographs of people dressed as characters from the film Moulin Rouge, zombies, and Mayor McCheese. There is simply no way I cannot go to this! (I bet the recent LA thing was one of the SW Anniversary celebrations!)

I was thinking about going to it, but money is very tight right now, and my interest in Trek has regretfully waned since the 1990s. Plus I've seen them before, so it wasn't a big loss.
