Nah. Kobe is a smart fellow. I'll give him that.
The word selfish comes to mind. But then that's the majority of modern NBA players.

Kevin Garnett is one of the rare exceptions.
If there's anybody that I could understand asking for a trade, it's him.
The guy never complains. Just comes to work and does his job (with little or no help.)

My take on it is, if he is a smart guy then he would not constantly bitch about everything and learn to count his blessings. Yes his talent I will give him that 1/2 inch got him part of the way where he is, but he needs to fucking quit crying like a little bitch and say thank you to the rest of the people who got him the rest of the way to where he is.

PS Kobe when you cheat on your wife, buying her a huge diamond ring will only temporarily make up for it....keep yo dick in your pants you ass. lol

You make some interesting points, however, consider that there is no guarantee that Oden and Durant's games will translate to superstardom in the NBA. They are both incredibly talented, but they played one year against college ballplayers and most of the best college aged players are already in the NBA. So who was their competition? In Kobe you have someone who many feel is the most talented player in the league and he is JUST NOW entering what are usually considered his prime years. I think that you will see many more 50+ scoring games from Kobe in the future. Will Durant ever have one? After his freshman year it seem that he might be capable, but without having played one minute in the league it is hard to say. Anyway, I think that it would difficult for Portland to turn down a deal that would land them Kobe for the #1 pick. By the way, I am NOT a huge Kobe fan, but he can ball.

Oh definitely there is no guarantee at all that either Oden or Durant will be successful in the NBA, none what-so-ever. There have been plenty of "can't miss" busts. But there is no guarantee either that Kobe won't get hurt (or Oden or Durant either) or under perform or destroy a team from the inside out.

And there is much more to Basketball than scoring 50 points a game (I may be mistaken but I don't remember Duncan scoring 50 points in a game and he has how many championships??). Kobe scored plenty of 50 point games this year and they did not even win their division or get out of the first round of the playoffs.

There is also rebounding, passing, physicality, attitude, etc....other intangibles that greatly effect the game that are not necessarily reflected in the box score.

Kobe is proven, but I have a gut feeling that especially Oden is going to be a superstar in the NBA that if done right, multiple championships can be won if a team is built correctly around him.

Again, good points. My point in bring up the 50 point games is not that those guarantee a championship (Wilt always led the league in scoring, but also always lost to the Celtics in the playoffs), but was to point out that Kobe, love him or hate him, is entering the prime of his career. Do you want to give up that degree of greatness (and he will go down as one of the all time greats) for a rookie with a possible tremendous upside? Some of the other facets of the game that you bring up are areas that, I think, Kobe excels in. Rebounding-you will not find many 2 guards that rebound as well as he does. Passing-again he is a 2 guard and his primary focus is scoring and it has to be on that team, but he can be a good passer when he wants to (admittedly, he rarely wants to lol ). He also has been on the all defensive team several times. Now, his attitude is a different matter all together. From all indications, he can be trouble in the locker room both for a coach and a teammate. Do I want that type of player on my team? No. But, with the type of ability that he has I would have to think long and hard before trading him for Greg Oden.

By the way, Tim Duncan is my favorite player in the league right now. When was the last time you saw a superstar of his caliber that was so unassuming, down to earth, classy, and coachable?
