lesbian names & capital letters question

I was wondering because k.d. lang has her name written w/out cap; letters & i also remember that in Prince's (good) biography "Slave 2 the Rythm", a lesbian college teacher was quoted several times & her name was alwayz written w/out cap. letters.

Does anyone know if it's just a coincidence or is there really something goin' up?

I'm not letting you pull me into another TMI debacle! mad

ANYWAY, Shaomi, no there's no secret lesbian reason for not capitalizing the letters in your name. bell hooks, a feminist author who does not identify as a lesbian, doesn't capitalize the letters in her name. Neither did e.e. cummings, a male poet. It can be taken as a sign of non-conformism, though, which might explain why some folks with minority sexual or gender identities sometimes choose to use it. shrug

Oh, c'mon guys i'm serious... rolleyes

Admit that there's a possibility that 4 some symbolic reason some lesbian movments could have decided 2 get rid of cap. letters... i dunno, 4 some reason these could have been considered as symbols of patriarcal shit or whatever...

So nobosy knows?

it is a traditon in BDSM relationships that sub refers to his or herself with lower case letters when writing and the Dom refers to His or Herself with capital letters. and when in a relationship W/we and O/our is common to see.
