The Things We Don't Know....

It weirds me out to think on how many perfect strangers we encounter on an everyday basis that could be or actually are some kind of real criminal! We are so fine tuned to just simply watch the evening news to see the underbelly of society when in all actuality we are walking next to, talking in line with, riding public transportation with, jogging past, working out next to, going through training with a person or persons that are just plotting a heinous crime of sorts.

Think about your commute to work, and how many people you just casually looked at on the way into work or whatever....and think about how many of them may have killed someone, raped, stole, accosted and just plain did something terrible either before or after you met their eyes.....

yeah, it could work the other way, too. that person across from you on the train might be a brilliant artist or someone who saved a life or someone you'll meet at a party six months from now and fall madly in love with or they could just be someone's mother or father or daughter or son and someone might love them very much.

or, you know, they could be total murdering scum. you could be right. shrug

i think that actually happened to me once on the bus. this dude came in dressed head to toe in prince shit (including moonwraps and a 1999:TNM baseball cap).

on second thought, it was a few years back so it was probably an NPGMC person, which is even scarier! boxed

And this Darin is where my mind has been for years. Not as a criminal but a human being extremely aware of the capabilities and acts that take place in dimensions we can never truly equate, but know are taking place all the time. I am that person, everyday, who steps out her door and know what I am just about to face, from walking to my car, to driving down the street, freeway, grocery shopping, eating out, at work... anywhere there are people, my mind is aware.

Home or anywhere alone with no computer, TV or phone use is just about the only place I can rest from this fact of life. It is still in mind, but I can find my sense of ease, even if for a day.

However, the way I have somewhat kept my sanity (barely at times)... is to not judge based on appearance, but keep my awareness/sense that "something" unusual or abnormal is happening or be cautious of "red flag signs". Usually, not always, there are red flags of somekind... eventually, traits and behaviors show their true colors. Unfortunately and sickenly the truths comes out after damage as been done. bheart wilted

This is a "fucked up" world, no doubt. Time has not necessarily changed, for I truly believe that back when the number of people were less, similar disturbing human behavior existed still. I believe the outrageous difference now...there are too many people in this world, having children uncontrollably/irresponsibly (at a high countable degree). More people, more disfunctions and more crime. No difference in the crime that has always existed, just a sad difference in the number of people that continue to grow, raising the chances of more evil to exist.

However, on a better note... there are good people, I meet so many each day. We do not know what goes on behind closed doors, even with these so called good people we are inspired by. I do believe that if we are to break the chain, in some way, "be the change you wish to see in the world".

No doubt I struggle with this sense of awareness, even with the good I live by and do each day. Sometimes I think... my goodness, how much of a difference am I really making (which I know I am), but really... how does it compete with what this world really needs. This is hard to live with each day, as I am constantly aware of this extreme every second need. But assure your whapping ass I will stay true to my mission, all the way to my final days here on earth. Any other way, for me... is a life I would rather not have at all.

And yes, they (ourselves, our parents, family, children, friends, complete strangers) are the people we may expect the least, this can be the most difficult truth of all.

Goes to say, we are not safe or invincible in the ways we live, not ever and truly never will be.

How settling is that.

a while ago we had a double homicide in our neighbor hood. Not that it is a bad neighborhood. This was a quite rare event. It just makes ya think. We had a murderer in our mists. We shopped in the same stores we went to the same pharmacy. Probably the same restaurant too. They lived in the neighborhood. They owned a home in the neighborhood. The house is still there, quiet now after he killed his family of three. It all too quiet around that house. Someone who had murder on their mind, was all around. It makes ya think who else got what in their mind. Ya just never know what in the human psyche. good or bad. We have had great artist's too and great bad. It all in the human existence. I guess.

Here is my spooky story.
Growing up my neighbor and I were pretty good friends, not best, but good.
We both get married to our spouses, have kids etc.
She spends alot of time at her mom's house, I also spend alot of time over at my mom's house, (our mom's are still neighbor's at that point in time)
She and I each have a daughter 6 months apart, so while I am visiting my mom and vice versa, our daughters would always play in the yard together. Continues for about 2 years. Her husband, the quiet, standoffish type..would come pick up his daughter from our yard at dinner time. He always seemed way polite, quiet, shy even. No red flags, he just seemed to be shy. My husband and I would always do the small talk, just to be friendly etc.
super long story short, we open our newspaper one day, and this man's picture is front page news! he has been arrested for child moloestation!!!!!
He had molested one of his daughters friends, in their own neighborhood.
My daughter (thank the good lord) had never been alone with him, she was about 3 or 4 years old and was not allowed by us to go over alone to their house.
She would just hang out with this little girl on occassions, in my Mom's yard!
My daughter was little, so the occassion of her going over to that house alone never came up, but if the friendship had continued, surely it would have come to that!!
By the way, my friend, (the molesters wife) did not believe the whole story about him in the beginning, so she put up her HOUSE for bail, and LOST it!!!
The loser jumped bail, and left the country. Extra long story short, he was found and is now in jail, serving 10 years.

of course, when we're looking at the people on the train and wondering if they're ax murderers, a good thing to remember is that there are people looking right back at us and wondering the same thing. lol

Last night an old guy moved some shopping trolleys out of the way and then waved me through to help me get out of a traffic jam out of the supermarket carpark! imagine the kindness and thoughtfulness - and I bet many people possess it and we don't even know them!

That reminds me of the time I was at a bank with someone and this guy came in and asked what time it was. The person I was with answered him and the guy backed away from the counter and waited like we were.

Later on the noon news we found out that guy had either attempted to rob or had robbed the bank. hmmm I don't remember exactly which but it was definitely an odd moment...

HE'S COMING AGAIN

I used to live upstairs from a nice enough guy. My flatmate and I talked to him often, he had a cat called boofhead and one day got another cat called coco - he said his mum asked him to take it, she couldn't look after it any more. A couple of years later he was on the front cover of the newspaper, he had killed his mother, and a couple of years later her body had been discovered and he had been jailed for life. confused I wonder if he had killed her on that day when he came home with the new cat? In that case we had talked to him just after eek
