That's a joke, right?

A dog, "lame"?

lol

No I'm not joking lol I'm around dogs a whole lot and some breeds are totally lame... and by that I mean useless, unnecessary. There are plenty of dogs that can do what a Golden does, and better mr.green

The breed is not stupid. Poor breeding makes any dog stupid. Have you seen how retarded most Golden Retrievers are these days? Shit breeding.

Exactly. Anyone who thinks that pit bulls are "stupid" in any way don't really know what they're talking about. smile My brothers' is one of the most emotionally complex creatures I've ever come across. He's a sweet little genius.

Pits are usually very stupid fucking' dogs... believe it or not LOL clumsy n shit, but yeah i mean with about 3,000 pounds of jaw pressure... that woulda been ya ass smile

actually they are very intelligent dogs, with great athletic ability and tenacity. most probably the ones in your town are not pure breeds, or come from poor breeding stock from back yard breeders. which is why you may have come to your conclusion, i am not sure..

not just poor breeding or mixed breeds but most have had poor to no training..
Pits are amazing dogs very sweet and loyal. (if properly brought up) people are to quick to assume the worst. I had a Staff. run at me when I was walking home from the store once.. all it did was knock the bag of candy from my hand..

All dog breeds can be vicious.. My steller is a Blue Heeler and can be very nasty if she feels the need to be.. not many people know it but that breed is very close to pits and have the same to stronger jaw power.

If you get bit the way to get them to let go is to stick a finger in their mouth from behind their back teeth and rub their tongue.. they usualy let go as soon as you get your finger in there..

you raised A pit? as in 1?

if thats all then how can you say as a whole the breed is stupid?

you may know that 1 pit you had raised was stupid but not any of the many others in the world.

thats just like saying that the breed as a whole are vicious when you only saw 1 dog bit a cat (for example)

-sorry if I sound snappy er rude whatever but Im tired and tring to get a point thru

i dont understand how anyone could categorise or call any animal lame it is all a matter of personal preference and different people have different needs and wants. dogs are known for their intelligence and loyalty, to generealise and call any dog stupid or lame is ridiculous.

a responsible owner, should make the effort to source their animal from a reputable and responsible breeder. dogs from puppy mills and back yard breeders are generally of poor stock and suffer from genetic defects and disorders.

unfortunately dick head dog owners are attracted to pitbulls and staffordshire terriers as status symbols, and generally source their dogs from friends or back yard breeders. and apart from being of poor stock they are given very little mental stimulation, socialisation and training. resulting in a scared, dangerous, ignorant animal.

i also find that dogs do reflect their owners, and in most cases dumb people have dumb dogs, simply because the animal and owner are poorly trained.

i have an american staffodshire terrier, (amstaff), which is the show line of the pitbull terrier, let alone the dog can understand over 30 different commands, in two languages, and he has only just turned one. he can open up nearly every single door locked and unlocked in my house. i have to make sure that i dont leave the key in the lock. he can open most bolts and he even figured out how to open my sliding patio doors. all from watching me do it, i didnt show him.

he can tell the difference between welcome and unwelcome visitors, without me even realising there is somebody at the door. and on a couple of occassions he has alerted me of potential trouble, by running into the house, and by his body language i can see he is protecting his territory. out walking, there have been times when he has stood between me and potential trouble and waited till the individuals have passed by to continue with his walk. all without commanding him to do so.

the dog comes from an excellent background, and i have paperwork documenting his pedigree and lineage.

ultimately with dogs you get back, with how much you invest in them. and i personally believe there are no dumb dogs, just dumb owners.

biggrin

No, seriously, there are some dumb dogs out there. lol

And I don't think that Teacher or I are saying that Goldens are "lame" in some Ultimate Truth of the Universe sense, only that we don't see the appeal of the breed. Is that gonna be acceptable to you? wink

hey you again.. lol.

i feel what you are saying, and yes of course there are clutzy dogs out there
but do u really believe that it is because of their breed or their breeding. and of course its different horses for different courses, and not all dogs are attractive or suitable for everybody...

but the case in point is that it has been argued that bit bulls are generally dumb, which i dont feel to be the case.

personally i like all dogs...

I do believe that some breeds have a general tendency towards being brighter or dumber than others, absolutely. And why wouldn't that be the case?

I think there are very few BAD dogs of any breed (though, again, some breeds clearly have a greater tendency towards aggression than others. . . no question in my mind). A few are just wired wrong. But most dogs of any breed can be trained. And dumb does not equal bad.

My dog is NOT a supergenius, I'll put it that way. lol But he is a very good boy, and gets better all the time. Training him to do "complex" things is harder than it would be with a smarter dog. On the other hand, he trusts me to be the leader, and pretty much wants to do what I ask him to do, it's just a matter of figuring out how to get that through his thick skull (which is often hilarious. . .a while back I taught him to "go find the Kong", largely so I wouldn't have to go looking for it every morning before I leave . . .we had some very amusing Kong hide-and-seek sessions. . .I almost lost hope lol). So, yeah, I've known many smarter dogs, but not many who are nicer to be around.

I think pits tend towards the upper end of the middle of the pack, as far as intelligence. Which I think is a great place to be. The supergenius breeds are not my favorites. Not even close.

As for liking all dogs, I don't. They're individuals. I don't like everybody. But a lot of them who are assholes are assholes because of their humans, for sure.

That's true of people too. Most of the real assholes got that way because somebody in their life didn't do right by them. shrug
