What are YOUR big events this summer???

My little sis is getting married the first week in July...they are in Florida, but both of their families are here in MI, so they will be getting married here.
I've gotta start hitting the exercise bike to look suave in my suit...lol
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Huge family reunion on July 1st, then the festival (where I work) takes place later that week.

I think it's gonna be a wicked summer.

My oldest daughters Quinceanera in July!

There are more details and work than a wedding (at least it seems so to me.....we have been planning and preparing since September 2006) and I am probably going to go broke....but she is more than worth it!

If everything goes as planned I'm going to spend a couple of weeks on the French riviera, then get picked up by a friend and we'll go on a road trip going east through Italy, Slovenia, Hungary and then into Transylvania. After that we'll head northwest through Slovakia, The Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark and back to Sweden. It'll be great, I'm just hoping we'll be able to free up a few extra days so that we won't have to be stressed.

I'm doing a John Mayer Mini Camping Road Trip Excursion during the first weekend in June. Seeing him two nights in a row in different parts of the state, and will probably look for a nice hike to do during the early part of the second day. woot!

After spring quarter ends I'm spending a week on the Oregon coast with my family. It's our group xmas gift from my parents, so it's not gonna cost me anything. I'm happy about that.

In July I've got a two-day kayaking surf course that I'm thrilled about. Will be learning to navigate surf conditions in coastal waters, as well as learning to actually surf waves in a kayak, which sounds like a blast.

In September I'm going on a multi-day kayaking trip through the San Juan islands.

And I'll be continuing to hike or kayak almost every weekend, which I'm already enjoying. cloud9

My daughter will be 14 in December and she is already talking about her quincenera which will be in 2008. I dont even want to think about that right now I am trying to convince her to not have one, Ive told her lets go on vacation instead, I am so not a party planner.

We tried the same thing with our daughter....we told her she could spend the summer in Guadalajara with her Tias y Primas, they could go to the beach (Vallarta or Ixtapa) for a while and we would even give her $2000 for spending money. It didn't work....she insisted on her Quince.

My advice is, if you do decide to have a Quinceanera for your daughter, at the very least reserve the Church and Hall ASAP. You would be surprised how far ahead Churches and Halls are booked.

I don't know if one would consider this a big event, but it sure is going to be different., In my hubby's divorce he was granted the kids for 8 weeks during the summer ( so together we have a total of 6~ one is 18 & moved), so this year, since I am home and we won't have to pay a sitter, we are taking that challenge!! Yes we do have them every other weekend, but that's only 72 hours, every 2 weeks..,I know you're thinking..so what..but it is a totally different environment here that what it is at their mom's house...so yeah it's a big event for us...
Because of God..we 2 r 1~~Darren & Suzyn forever

No real plans yet. I was going to Bolivia with my boyfriend to visit a friend who's living there. But she's coming back in one month and he's my ex now. sad

So many friends of mine have 'procreated' the last year, so it won't be able to find me some single company without kids.

I am going to a Buddhist monastery in the Catskill Mountains on the 18th of this month to stay as their guest. It is an all-silent monastery, a working bakery and farm.

We open up our summer home in North Carolina in a couple of weeks. I will most certainly spend a lot of time there, with hopes at some point I can meet Mach! smile

I go to Frankfurt, Germany in early June for a work-related Board of Directors meeting.

I will spend some time in Florida with family and friends.

Virtually every Fall I take a NYC trip, and then I go to Key West in October....

So far, that is it....I will not get back to Europe for holiday until next year.

It all depends, especially how flexible you are, what time of year, and how busy churches and halls get in your area.

My daughter has a cousin who's birthday is this November but the Church was not available until February so that is when she is going to have her Quince. In her case, they wanted this specific church, so that is what they had to settle for.

With our daughter, her birthday is on a Saturday this year so it was real important to her to have it on that exact day. So we had to check several churches before we found one available for that date (July 21). We found several available one or two weeks before or after, but she insisted on July 21.

So if you have to have a specific church/hall and or date, I would book it now. If you are more flexible, you can probably get away with booking a year in advance. Either way, I wouldn't cut it any closer than that.

I opted for a trip from my parents and a car when I was 15. I got the trip that summer, but I got the car in senior year of high school. I like the deal! I am not too much into quincenera things now and neither when I was 15. However, my aunt and uncle have three daughters each a year apart and so far they have two quinceneras down and possibly one more to go, but I think the youngest daughter just wants a regular house party, pictures, a trip to Mexico, and a Church reception with her dress and attended by family members in Mexico. Yeah, so my aunt and uncle are fearing that she will want a quincenera party because now they are broke!
