So really there is no reason for a taco for you unless you do tofu. Tacos are pretty hard to do meatless.

oh, i can make a killer meatless taco filling. that's not difficult at all. in fact, it's entirely possible to make veggie chorizo (burritoville in NYC makes AMAZING vegan chorizo). it's still gonna fall out of the damn shell.

one of the best tacos i eat is when i saute/grill squash/onoins/mushrooms with a good red salsa ...a good meat taco now a days will go $2 or more ...pastor,carnitas or tripas/chitlins(crispy) are the ones i usually go for with a mess of fresh radishes on the side

I've had Ethiopian once. Messy as hell, but it tasted good.

And don't believe that other Siouxsie person. I'm with you on tacos. It would be the last thing I would order from a Mexican place. The crunch is nice, but I can get that from a taco salad (like you said) or a chimichanga.

One of y'all need a new avie, cuz I'm getting confused. At least pick a different era! lol

Wow, I have never tried that! In fact, I've never cooked an avocado. I've just eaten them raw.

Maybe, I don't really pay attention to what I put the avocados on. I pretty much just focus on the avocado. lol

see, i think you're on to something. put grilled/heavy stuff like sauteed veggies in the shell instead of mostly lumpy shreddy stuff. i can see how that would help hold a taco together a little better. hmmm

no shell for heavy stuff, but always double the tortilla ... garlic mashed potato and cheese hard shell tacos ... think contrast in textures

In CA, we eat tacos three meals a day. I know this sounds ridiculous, but I highly doubt you've ever experienced a proper plate of authentic tacos if you're living in the midwest. sad Which is a crying fucking shame, honestly.

Yep...I'm sure all the people who immigrated from Mexico instantly forgot how to make a taco when their planes touched down on the tarmacs of Midwestern airports.

I make a multitude of tacos. Fish tacos with batter fried fish, machacco with smoked beef, leftover prime rib in a fried corn tortilla.....every thing over- flowing is the best part about it!!! The roasted ancho chile. tomatoe. lettuce. freshly grated sharp cheddar cheese. Home cooked stewed pintos, mashed. Corn on the cob on the side, and over everything, handful of cilantro plus lime.
throw in dos XX . I's a table full of food and always gone the next day.

Actually, cow tongue is quite meaty. We've cooked it and sliced it and used it in other ways, but not tacos, although thats an idea.....!

I'm with you, but for a different reason. I like the taste/texture of flour tortillas. Corn tortillas suck a little ass...

I like soft tacos but they're stupid when you can just throw all the stuff in a bigger shell & have a burritto exclaim

There's something about seeing the foot contained within the taco that makes it a step above a burrito. I won't argue about taco salads, though- those are the best!

Also, if you eat them properly and don't overstuff them, tacos aren't messy at all.
