What styles have you learned ? AmCab,Turkish,Egyptian Do you perform ? Not anymore What costuming is your fav to wear ? Egyptian style 
Do you make your own costumes ? Nope Do you prefer traditional middle eastern or more "americanized" belly dance ? Both Do you drum ? yes Do you dance to live music or recorded ? I prefer Live,but do both Do you travel to belly dance seminars ? Which ones ? no Do you teach ? I have tried How much are lessons in your area ? Lessons for fun-30-75 an hour. Training-Im not sure Do you like the cane dances and have you danced one ? Yes & and not in public 
What was the hardest move for you to learn ? No move in particular,but mastering my zills is a pain What level dancer are you ? I would say Intermediate "Nobody makes me bleed my own blood...NOBODY!"

I have been interested in belly dance for many years, but have never taken a class. A family friend recommended it to me when I was in high school. My first thought was, "I can't take belly dancing classes! I don't have a nice belly!" She told me that it didn't matter, and that belly dancing would actually give me a nice belly.
In college, a guy I detested asked me if I ever took belly dancing classes, and I said that I had been thinking about it. He gave me a creepy look, and said "Oh, you should!" Ick. Anyway, a year or so after that, I rented a bellydancing DVD through Blockbuster online. I loved it! It was the beginner program, so it was fairly easy. I practiced for about a week, then sent it back. My boyfriend really enjoyed watching me practice  , and I felt so alive and sexy while I did it. I would like to take a class, but I will have to make room in my schedue, as well as work it into my budget.Wanna hear me sing?  www.ChampagneHoneybee.com | |

What styles have you learned ? Freestyle. It's the easiest, cuz you just make it up as you go along.
Do you perform ? Only on a sexual level. And mostly just for my girlfriend.

Do you make your own costumes ? Yes. though 99% of them are unintentional.
Do you prefer traditional middle eastern or more "americanized" belly dance ? As I stated earlier. I prefer the freestyle version. Though, when I first started, it was originally termed "frenchstyle".
Do you drum ? Yes, but only to my own beat. Never in front of anyone ( even my own girlfriend. For me, that would be just too weird).
Do you dance to live music or recorded ? Mostly recorded music. Though there was that one time when we added a third party to the mix & she sang something acapella. At least, I think she was supposed to be singing. We were all so drunk that night.....
Do you travel to belly dance seminars ? No. I usually just let the seminars come to me.
Which ones ? The ones that I let thru my front door.
Do you teach ? Not intentionally. But if they learn something from the experience, well, then good. I'm usually in this just for my own satisfaction, but if a few "scraps of intellectual debris" can feed a few "vultures", then maybe my girlfriend is right whenever she says that everything happens for a reason.
How much are lessons in your area ? A sixpack can pretty much cover you.
Do you like the cane dances and have you danced one ? While I prefer dances of a more alcholic desposition, I don't mind a snort every once in a blue moon.
What was the hardest move for you to learn ? The "Coyote Ugly" move. Nearly lost an arm on that one.
What level dancer are you ? Intermediate, on a good night.

I'll say one thing, my instructor traveled and took lessons from the top dancers in the middle east. Her husband was stationed in the army. I took lessons from her for four years. She was the best! Delilah. [Edited 5/3/07 19:18pm] | |

One thing I'm tuned into with Prince, is all the music he has with finger cymbals.
I'm pretty sure he was influenced by middle eastern music before Mayte. Maybe CoolEaze would know? That's why "We Can Funk" is one of my favorite practice songs to dance to. I could do finger cymbals if I worked at it, just not with "Chiftitelli" [Edited 5/3/07 19:29pm] | |
