Sorry, but that's fucking stupid. Should Andrei Kirilenko have intentionally laid out Baron Davis on his ass for dunking on him in Game 3 with under 3 minutes to go and Golden State up 20?

You are just still mad at this:

lol

No, that was a great play and I give Baron credit for it. I just really hate it when teams resort to dirty, bullying tactics. Jason Richardson was way out of line in clotheslining Okur. It wasn't a case of just a hard foul. Richardson went over to Okur afterwards and said, "Stop being a pussy". That's just a cheap shot from a player pissed off at his poor performance and unable to deal with the fact that his team was losing. Not a class act at all, and I would say exactly the same thing if a Utah player had done the same.

It's total bullshit. Horry's forearm may just give San Antonio the series. Tim Duncan and Bruce Bowen left the bench in the 2nd quarter when Elson dunked, but they aren't being suspended. rolleyes

Nevermind the fact that Amare and Boris didn't get anywhere NEAR the confrontation. rolleyes

The NBA is Tim Duncan's bitch. lol I admire Duncan's game and everything, but the way the league panders to him is a bit much. Way to give the Spurs another championship.

excited Jazz win! excited

Utah is the first team in the Conference Finals, a level the Jazz have not reached since 1998. Great season, Golden State! You shocked the world in beating Dallas and provided some much-needed joy for your fans who experienced a 13-year playoff drought. If the Warriors keep their team intact next year, they will be truly scary. My hat is off to Golden State, but my heart is with the Jazz. See you in Game 1, Phoenix or San Antonio!

I'm hoping it's Phoenix as well. The suspensions amaze me. Stu Jackson may have just given San Antonio the series.

No they weren't....Utah had momentum and still could have come back at that point. And they were still playing hard.

GS was out of the game when Okur tried to dunk and the Warriors had already conceded the game, not even playing defense (let alone hard) until Okur tried to dunk.

When have you ever seen a team come back from being down 20 points with 2:43 to play? That was the case when Baron dunked. Exactly the same circumstances as when Okur went for it.

Look at it like this....when Baron Davis dunked, Utah was still playing hard, they were still trying.

When Okur tried to dunk, GS had basically waived the white flag. There were not really playing defense, in fact Jason Richardson was way off Okur, content to let him sit there and run out the clock.

But NOOOO....Okur tried to dunk when he should not have and he got punished for it. Bottom line. That's it. There are unwritten rules in pro sports and one of them is you don't try to show a team up by piling on and show-boating when the other team has conceded.

In general they police themselves, so if for instance in Baseball, if you steal a base while being up big, the next pitch is coming right at the batter. In NASCAR, if you don't use proper etiquette to pass or get out of the way, you get pushed into the wall. In Basketball, if you try to go to the hoop for a spectacular dunk when the other team has conceded, you get a very hard foul.

That just is how it is in Pro Sports.

Congratulations to UTAH. They played hard and earned it against a very hot team.

The Conference finals should be very good, no matter if its Utah vs Phoenix or Utah vs San Antonio. Utah will be well rested and who ever wins the Suns - Spurs series should be pretty beat up....literally!

I have to give the Bulls a lot of credit, when they went down 3 - 0 they could have easily given up. Detroit better wake up quick or they might become the first team in NBA history to blow a 3 - 0 lead in a seven game series.

It is hard 2 get 4 a team u KNOW u can beat. Detroit is trying 2 coast thru this series. It might backfire. I hope it does.

clapping

Sometimes when you try and coast through a series you should win, and it starts getting close, it is just too hard to turn it back on. Let's hope that is the case here!

Both times, the game was out of reach. shrug My point still stands.

As for what happens in other sports, I don't condone that either. Intent to injure another player/competitor is not sportsmanship.

I totally disagree. Sticking up for what exactly? The game was done. It didn't matter whether Okur dunked, shot a three or just held on to the ball and let the clock run out. It's not important. A class act would just let it go. In the current climate of suspensions it showed a lack of intelligence too.

shake You are comparing apples to oranges.

When Baron Davis dunked, Dallas was still playing hard and still had a very slim chance of winning. Baron's dunk sealed it.

When Okur tried to dunk, the Warriors had stopped playing and the games outcome was not in doubt.

Okur was the one who showed no class!

This just supports my point. If it was such an innappropriate foul, especially in this current climate of suspensions, why wasn't Jason Richardson suspended????? I didn't even hear any talk of him being suspened.

Once again you are proving my point. The game was done, the ONLY reason why Okur would be trying to dunk in that situation is to rub it in the Warriors face. A BIG no no no! in pro sports!

So Okur paid for it. I bet you Okur never tries to do that again!

Perhaps he was lucky? Not everyone who might have been suspended during these playoffs has been. When it comes down to it all you're left with is a dunk, which is within the rules, and a hard foul, which isn't. Unwritten rule or not, there's really no comparing the two. If the benefit of the doubt has to be given to one or the other I'd tend to go with the one who didn't actually commit a foul. lol

We're obviously not going to agree on this. I do understand what you're saying about the dunk within the context of the game, but I believe the onus is on the opposition in such an instance to be disciplined and not commit what is unequivocally a foul in the game of basketball. The whole thing about 'rubbing it in' is purely a reflection on the indiscipline of the other player brought into being way of the reaction. Otherwise, it's just a dunk.

exactly... they could of have done the suspension at the begining of the season... this is handing the series to the spurs who has been playing dirty ball ..... i was hoping the suns was going to keep the fire going but i knew they would burn out by the end.. and then to top it off the spurs got the final points on fouls... more dirty playing mad
