lol Completely discrediting Larry Bird is a bit nutso, though! I'm not a Celtics fan at all (was a diehard Pistons fan until they traded my hero Adrian Dantley), but Larry Bird deserves his praise.

Ask McHale...lol

Barkley may say so, but that's because McHale was abusing him EVERY night, position for position.

McHale, Chief and DJ were great set up men, but Bird was an assassin.

I am to this day a die hard Celts fan! I wore #33 in high school and tried to pattern my game after Larry Legend. However i didn't get his height. Grew to six foot 2, and played like a poor mans Ginobili (which got me a college scholarship as a 2 guard!)

highfive I Loved the Bird era Celtics...not so much anymore. As a matter of fact, I live in Detroit, and to this day, I HATE the Pistons for playing against my Celtics back in the day. HATE, HATE, HATE their physical style. Laimbeer and Mahorn took 2 yrs off of Bird's playing days. Anyone who doesn't appreciate Bird's game doesn't know SQUAT about basketball...

Dude, I'm only 5'7", but i also patterned my game after Bird's game...I have unbelievable touch on my outside shot and my passes rival anyones. woot!

I think I like you Karma...lol
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Right back at you man! I do love the Celtics still, I am a loyalist. Poor Paul Pierce. But I do love Al Jefferson, Delonte West, and Gerald Green. Rajon has upside. So I think the future is bright. Would have loved Oden, but I think they will get Al Horford who will contribute right away! As far as ball goes we will have to do it up! I've played with Dex, we'll play one day!

Cool, look forward to it...we might play in the seniors league, but we'll play...lol
It's great that you love your team...in basketball, I think I gravitate towards great PLAYERS, not teams...I LOVED the Celtics with Bird (thusly, didn't like Magic, our rival, but have grown to respect his game too)...LOVED MJ...LeBron looks to be on his way...I am in LOVE with Jason Kidds game (I just wish he had a better jumper, it might have made the difference in them winning a title or not)

In Football, I LOVE the COWBOYS and the LIONS...teams....hmmm.
Baseball...TIGERS all the way
Hockey....RED WINGS....

So, I guess I am somewhat of a homer, but still dislike the Pistons...lol

You sound young...

Magic had a better supporting cast...it was Larry and the nobodies on that Indiana State team that went undefeated through the regular season. Larry carried that team by making supporting teammates better, that's what GREAT players do. They make others better.

That's what Lebron is doing now, what Magic did as a laker. MJ took a slightly different path, but ultimately, he made his teammates better too.
That is the thing that Kobe can't figure out...great scorer, but that's it, same with Iverson...that list can go on and on (and includes Reggie Miller)

Jordan elevated his street cred by winning 6 titles. That made his popularity go off the charts. Oh and maybe your too young to remember and I'm 27 and still remember Larry Bird and Michael Jordan in one of the most succesful McDonalds adds ever. And by the way, Larry sold tons of converse in his heyday, hes just a lot more low key then M.J. But at the end of the day its about winning championships to get credibility. Kobe was at his peak popularity when he was winning the game. Now look at how hated he is!

Thank you. These young'uns have no sense of NBA history.

Larry was only a great shooter??? Oh please - I suppose his rebounding, passing & court sense don't count. Unbelievable.

"Larry was great..one of the best...he dominated white guys and black guys"
(Magic Johnson's quote on the Howard Stern Show. I think Magic would know more than any of us.)

My Top Ten(doesn't include active players)

1) Wilt
1a) Russell
2) Jordan
3) Oscar
4) Baylor
5) Kareem
6) Magic
7) Bird
8) Hakeem
9) Moses
10) Dr.J

Nonsense...Isiah Thomas is a f-n joke(as GM & coach). Thanks to him, Scott Layden & Dolan, the Knicks are the laughingstock of the NBA. Zeke's talent is scouting players and that's it.

You can drink all the Zeke Kool-Aid you want, but the Knicks will never be serious contenders as long as Brain-Dead Dolan & Train-Wreck Thomas are in charge

eek eek eek

ARE YOU F---ING KIDDING ME?!?!?!

What GM in his right mind would trade a future HOFamer for the garbage that's on the Knicks? If the Lakers decide to trade Kobe(which won't happen, because Kobe's staying put), they can get a much better deal from other teams besides NY.

You've got to be kidding with your posts.
