tonight... watching three different arenas tonight
for three different hockey teams across this huge nation
belting out the national anthem canada
and me here at home, belting it out along with them
it's a beautiful sight cool

not me singing neutral i mean the sea of people proudly singing their anthem.

Today! I was sitting in the Department for Immigration, waiting to get my resident re-entry visa, and on the wall is the pledge you have to say to become an Australian Citizen.

I was reading through it and it said "blah blah blah your loyalty to Australia" and I stopped there thinking I couldn't go ahead with that eek I am NOT ready to stand behind this country's views on some matters, so maybe that doesn't make me so much swedish, but un-Australian boxed

To be honest, I never have really identified as an American. I rarely root for American teams in international events, I generally prefer European music and love Indian and Mexican food! When I went to college, I always stayed in the international dorm, and most of my friends were either foreign or heavily involved in international culture. I don't feel un-American, per se, but I have never really identified with a particular country.

Scottish, pro-independence, and (not to offend my English friends of course) the odds are looking up for more power at least in the Scottish Parliament, if not Westminster.

Um, I'm not sure really. Maybe when the rugby internationals were on?? hmmm Or whenever I leave the country.

I'm not the most patriotic person there is. I'm proud to be Welsh, I'm proud to be British, but I rarely think about these things. Maybe if I went travelling like you have, JD, I would be reminded of it more often. nod

Your Parliament was designed by a Spanish Architect smile (professional fixation redface )

We also have different nationalities here in Spain.
I think it's right to have some degree of independence but without forgetting the common welfare. I mean, I don't see fair the richest parts of the country don't contribute to the poorest ones. shrug
