Wouldn't be surprised if Imus shows up on satellite. You can say stupid stuff there without worrying about your job.

Like how African American people can call each other the N word, if a caucasian person said that there'd be protests.

Stern has said alot worse, there is this whole "moral majority" movement in the US since the "wardrobe malfunction" thing...a long line of apologists such as Mel Gibson etc.

stern should hire imus but only allow imus to talk in baby language, like bam-bam on the flintstones or something.

In the Los Angeles area, there is Bill Handel..out of KFI-640 am talk radio. He is way more hard spoken then Imus ever was, and he is still on everyday, he is one of the highest rating in the area. Don't get me wrong, I love Bill Handel, I just know that he is an equal opportunity offender. I never take him personally. Being hispanic, my race takes up 1/3rd of his show. I love talk radio, if I am not listening to Prince in my car, you can bet I am listening to talk-radio.

I wondered what Howard said, too, because I've heard other talk hosts defend Imus even though they didn't really like him.

It definitely doesn't seem like enough to get fired over (though stupid and wrong to say about innocent girls--as opposed to picking on a celeb), especially when you're referred to as "Shock jock Don Imus"

Please understand that not all African Americans use that word. A good majority abhors it.
I've noticed that it's the younger, current generation that uses it the most. The sting of slavery is so far removed (as far as they're concerned) that they don't feel anything when they hear it.
But "the enlightened ones" remember the intention behind the word and won't use it.
The African American community is not a monolithic culture, just as any other culture. One behavior does not speak for the masses, as publicized as that behavior may be. No one should use this word (including African Americans.) Period.
