Dear Toys R Us customers Dear Toys R Us customers,
Please understand that just because you are in a toy store does not give you the right to behave like an ill-mannered four year old. This means no yelling, no screaming, no swearing, no crying, no slapping, no punching, no shoving, no grabbing, no foot-stomping, no name-calling, and for the love of God, no pouting. Also, our workers do not give two shits about just how badly your darling little Makenna and precious little Dakota absolutely must have a Wii or the latest Cars or Bratz merchandise, and definitely do not appreciate displays of the aforementioned behaviour upon hearing you can't have what you want RIGHT NOW. It would be a great help both to you the customer and our employees if you could take the whole half second it requires to actually read a sign or a price or a label, so as not to cause a screaming fit when you get to the register to pay and realize that some detail isn't how you assumed it is. Do not demand a personal shopping assistant. Not only does our company not offer such a service, but the employees have a whole list of jobs to do daily, none of which are comparison pricing you for 3 hours because you refuse to read a sign yourself. We also will not play gopher with a foot-long shopping list while you wait at the door. Keep this in mind and things will run much more smoothly for everybody involved. Sincerely, a Toys R Us employee "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

In all seriousness, there have been several incidents the past few weeks at my work. It's kind of upsetting. It's literally been twice as bad Christmas, with not even half the customer traffic.
I've been screamed at and sworn at I can't even count how many times in the past few weeks. I had someone today accusing TRU of marking up the price on an item to rip off consumers -a product which we keep at the standard price. I've got it easy though. One of our Ticket guys was punched by a customer the other day for being out of stock in a certain style kid's bike, and another employee was shoved by a customer, landing her hand on a boxcutter. She needed 3 stitches. Up 'til recently the job hasn't been too terrible, but now Management's looking into hiring full-time security staff. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Holy crap I thought I had it bad when I worked at the truck stop...all I had to deal with was methed-out vagrants and drunks Seriously, I hear all the time from various online geek friends how people just get stupid in toy stores (especially collectors...my gawd ) It's embarrassing for those of us who know how to act civilized.

The kids aren't all that bad. There're a few that scream and yell, but that's not too bad. It's the adults that make Toys R Us hell somedays "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I was trying to find a Wii for a family member in Mexico, and the Toys R Us People told us that they did not have it and I was just kind and smiled, "Thanks for helping me though!" Because I have worked in a bookstore before and some customers were just rude to me! I really like spicy food. I mostly put Jalapenos on a lot of my food.

Knowing what it's like on both sides, I try my best to be extar nice to employees in stores, especially if they're new. BTW -if you're still trying to get a Wii, TRU doesn't usually know ahead of time when we get them in, unless it's for some specific event like a flyer. When they arrive is decided between Head Office and Nintendo. BUT most stores get at least one, sometimes two shipments a month with anywhere from 15 to 40 Wii at a time. They're general made available for purchase on Saturdays, and the first Saturday of the month is the best time to try. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"
