Which Do You Prefer: Cooking At Home Or Eating Out?

I love eating out, and would do it more often, if it wasn't so expensive. I like not having to prepare, cook, and clean up the meal afterwards. I would cook more for myself, but it's kinda hard to cook for only one person. Sure I can cook something and maybe cut the recipe in half, but even when I do that, I still have tons of it left over. After eating the same thing for several days, I find that I tend to get tired of it. What about you?
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I'm a great cook, and I enjoy it, so usually I would choose eating at home. That way, I can make the food just the way I like it, and in the correct portions. Now, when the cupboards are bare, and all of the dishes are dirty, I go out! lol

I use to eat out almost every night, cause i lived in a studio with a kitchenette, once I upgraded to a 1 Bedroom with a full kitchen, cooking became hobby of mine.

I enjoy cooking, trying new recipes and finding out the results.

Its fun.

I prefer dining out. I love the whole experience. I wish we could better trust the quality of food we don't prepare ourselves nowadays, though.

I like 2 cook 4 people. Wine & dine 'em.
peeps r usually suprised that I can cook, which suprises me.
What or how do they think I eat? Cold beans and chocolate bars 'n' beer?.

I used 2 b in a position where I could get food and drink 4 free; good wine, meat, everything organically grown.

Actually, if somebody really appreciates me cooking for them, I can get into it on special occasions, and I am actually good at it (which always shocks them nod ).

I like both, but tend to eat better and healthier when I cook myself or friends cook for me. When I eat out I always feel like it's such a treat and I really adore food. It's a shame to get something lame when you're out for the experience of it. Not to say you can't find fabulously delicious healthy things on menus, but it's more difficult and more difficult to get reasonable portions.

Yeah I've gone through this same thing. I used to love the convience of eating out. But it is really hard to watch your weight and feel like you have control of your eating habbits when you do that.

I've really loved learning how to cook...I find the time it takes do decide what I want to eat and learning new recipies relaxing and exciting all at the same time. I shop for mostly organic foods and I find my health as well as my mind is in much better balance for it. Plus ( I know it sounds really crazy) but cooking food with attention and love feels and tastes much better than resturant food. I feel like when I'm cooking a new recpie I embark on a prodject and feel some sort of gratification when I'm told how excellent it tastes or I feel like it is one of the best things I've ever done.

I still LOVE eating out..but it feels much more like a special occasion and an experience when I dine out. So I guess I appreciate it more. I consider it much more social.

I know it sucks when most recipies say serves 4 or 8..and your like I don't wanna eat this for the rest of the week! But I found a great book called "Eating Well: Serves two" by Jim Romanoff and the test kitchens of EatingWell. You might like it...it gives you tips on how to shop and cook for only one or two people. And the recipies are delicious!

Ideally:

Two nights a week, I cook.

Two nights a week, he cooks.

Two night a week, we eat out.

And, then, there's sandwich night.

Before I went home on leave in January, I would have said that it was an even split....but the food AND service when we went out (except at The Cheesecake Factory in Phoenix.....drooling) sucked big time everywhere we went, including Chili's, Olive Garden, and Applebee's (there aren't a lot of gourmet spots in Sierra Vista....like looking for gold in a cow pasture....)....

...so now the overwhelming choice is most definitely home cooking....the wife can burn & I usually assist with the prep, clean-up, keeping the CD player stocked with good tunes and steady refilling of wine glasses....so its a great time for us to reconnect and enjoy each other's company.....

sometimes i love going out to eat, sometimes i'll make myself something.
but you know what?
when i go out to eat, i don't want something i can make at home(like a salad, for example) when i dine out i want something different. cool
