lol yeah you should get the first season, it was good. i felt that after Caesar died I didn't know how HBO was going to work out a second season of Rome, but they have succeeded because this second season has been just as good. thumbs up! check it out!

Rome is the best show on antiquity I've seen since I, Claudius. In fact, Rome is I, Claudius as co-directed by Mamet and Scorcese.

It is easily the best show I have ever watched. I cannot believe there are only two more episodes. I will be weeping in two weeks.

Just because Gaius Julius Caesar died doesn't mean history stopped. While Gaius Julius Caesar was an interesting character, I tend to think there are far more interesting parts to Roman history one could focus on. That is just a fairly well-known story. The reign of Augustus (Octavian) is full of fascinating things.

And before Julius Caesar, there was Lucius Cornelius Sulla, Gaius Marius, and before that the Gracchi....

Christ.

So much material.
This one's for you.

She needs a very prolonged torture. Like the death of 1000 that I read in a book called The Journeyer. One thousand very minor but painful things thrown into a pot, drawn out daily.

well, what i meant was by the "educator" was suppose to be a compliment, not seen as an insult, which sounds like from what you have written is how you have taken it. calm down. its not that serious.

It's a GREAT show and I was very happy to find out it was coming on again this season. I was lead to believe that it was a 1 season show. Titus Pullo and the NEW Octavian are my favorite charecters. He's smart, no longer an fearful little boy and he put his Mom and Mark Anthony in their places during the last episode smile

I didn't take it as an insult, really. Sorry for the snappier looking post.

Anyway,to go on and reply to your Pullo post--I liked him right up until he cheated on his wife. smile I hate what that chick did to his wife, but it's kind of like a karma to me that she died.

Octavian is my favorite character. biggrin

oh i can't stand Octavian right now, he's acting like a real ass. He's broken up Antony and Atia, now Octavia and Atilla (is that his name? damn i forget) and now he's going to marry some chick who was already married to somebody else, and he has to beat her to fulfill his sexual fantasies? Octavian has become a real dick lately. I use to think he was the smart one out of the bunch.

As for Pullo, I know when he cheated on his wife it was wrong, i think he recognizes that fact, but that damn slave bitch must die.

Happy Ides of March!

Anyway, damn right that slave bitch must die.

I can't bring myself to hate Octavian because I know too much about his historical character. On the show, true, he's becoming a dick, but I still love his strong will, intelligence and motivation. And you ahve to find it pretty fascinating, considering he's only supposed to be around twenty-one or so!

Agrippa and Octavia had to be gotten rid of because historically, they were never together. Same with Atia and Antony. And Antony is the biggest dick of the group, in my opinion, but I can't bring myself to dislike him. Even though he's a dishonest coward.

I am just so fascinated with the damn show's characters... The only one I truly ever loathed was Servilia. Glad that bitch died!
