ThreadBare said: I used to sound very normal, accent-free and such.
But almost 3 years in Nashville are giving way to a southern drawl that I find very disturbing. I grew up mimicing people for kicks, which makes me susceptible to adopting accents. I share this "drawl" with you..sorry you find it disturbing..lol Because of God..we 2 r 1~~Darren & Suzyn forever

I was born & raised in California, and I have been told (especially when I lived in London) that I do possess the California accent. Lots of "ohmygods!" but I try to stay away from "like." One thing Californians do is run their double t's together when they talk - so "little" becomes "liddle," "sitting" becomes "sidding" and so forth. Our speech isn't very proper, plus it tends to be fast and sort of muddled together. I am guilty of it all, yes! I also can have wild intonation in my speech - it fluxes up and down. A women with taste, I see? Hi Pam! Yes, the Welsh accent is very 'sing songy'. You would get along famously with Pam. LOVE HER!!! Hi Pam!!!! onenitealone said: Natisse said: Hey love! Thanks very much. Plus, growing up, other people used to accuse me of trying to talk 'posh'. Then, of course, there's the 'gay' thing. It doesn't bother me now but - growing up - I was almost terrfified someone would ask me something sometimes. Or that I'd have to speak aloud in public. Because the inflection in my voice would always 'give the game away' or I was used to being ridiculed because of something I'd say. So it was always a big thing for me - I absolutely hated the sound of my own voice with a passion. Anyway... thanks for the compliment. Thank you. Hi O.N.A I have Family down the road from You in Tenby near Pembroke. I think it is a wounderful area and have been visiting ever since i was a youngster (at least once a year) and i think that the Welsh accent has a really nice sound to it. I know us "English" take the piss but in this instant i'm being truthful. I even said to my wife that when we retire i would be very happy to settle in that neck of the woods. So don't be downbeat about the Welsh accent, its gotta be better than the Norfolk one where I currently live. Cheers Steve P.S. I notice on your profile that you are a George Michael fan. Have you got tickets yet for his stadium tour this year? I may have a spare couple for Carrow Rd, Norwich on 12th June Reality is an illusion

![]() Hey Smedley. My accent is probably quite similar to Richey's - I'm not from Blackwood but it's quite near to where I come from. Deep(ish), husky, shot to bits.

I mumble when I talk sometimes so sometimes some of my syllables may sound weird and be mistaken for some accent though it's just the way I talk

Natisse said: onenitealone said: Welsh accent here
- think of a cross between Anthony Hopkins (according to Natisse), Richard Burton (I wish) and Shakin' Stevens. I don't sound very typical of where I come from, though - it's a lot stronger where I grew up. And then there's the North Wales accent, Valleys accent (where I'm from), Cardiff accent, Swansea accent, etc., etc., so a 'Welsh' accent depends on where you come from, really. I wanna hear onenightalone's accent. Guess you could say I have a "Cleveland" accent. We say our "o"s in certain words kinda funny. For instance, when we say the word "box", it sounds more like, "baux" (or something like that). RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
