LOST: ENTER 77 Discussion thread (Spoilers inside!)

OMG, Last nights episode was like Christmas! Not only did we get to see Syied, but we got the return of Ms Klugh. And lots of well, I won't call them answers, more like reveals, as they were clues as to what did go on.

We know that the flame was the communication station. It is unfortunate that Locke blew it up. I look at that move as a real good, yet frustrating plot device. But hey who didn’t love it when John wanted to play against the computer. Loves pressing them buttons!!! Same with Klugh. Folks have been clamoring to see her again. Well now we know where she was.

We know that the others aka the hostiles had a war with the Dharma Folks. Apparently the others have been there a long time. It is THEIR island. The Dharma initiative came to the island and the inhabitants of that island didn’t want them there…nor anyone else. And even though Dharma is done, their experimental stations keep bringing pesky people to the island. And it seems as though Dharma recruited people via the “Save the world” advertisement.

Oh and now Sawyer can’t say any nicknames for the next 7 episodes. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon…classic!

I need to pop off. Feel free to discuss..

Klugh: Mikhail. Mikhail! You know what to do.
Mikhail: We still have another way [out].
Klugh: We cannot risk. You know the conditions.
Mikhail: There is another way.
Klugh: They captured us. We will not give (or let, or betray) [unintelligible].
Klugh: You know what to do. It is an order.
Mikhail: We still have another way!
Klugh (in English): Just do it, Mikhail.
Mikhail: Forgive me. (shoots)

I agree, loved the episode, too. Nice to see the pirate again. However, how are you so sure that we KNOW what you posted here? I'm not watching it since the first episode, however I think I have read enough to be up to date.

No I really think that that is the connection between Dharma and The Others. Patchy did say he lied about being Dharma but he was truthful about everything else. It leads me to believe that he was speaking in terms of the prior inhabitant of the Flame. The part about it being thier island, goes back to when the others had Kate in the jungle and Tom says it's their island, their food.

I really think that turning the key fuc*ed them all.

Ok, that leaves the question of course, what they are doing there? Why is it
their island? What did Dharma do there? And if "turning the key f*cked them all", why were they hostile towards the Losties before that? Did they think they were Dharma? Why would they think that?

All I can guess is that there have been inhabitants there for a long time. Probably unknown to DHarma at the time they came to the island to do their experiments. I am thinking there were proababy issues from the start. Now what the Others are up to is anyones guess. And their secretive nature is also a mystery. There is somehting they are protecting.

You know I don't see the Others as being hostile towards the Losties at all. My perspective has changed on this. I think they are doing what it takes to keep thier race surviving. My guess is that they are incapable of reproducing now. Hence Juliet. Hence them abducting the kids (and children in general) so that that they can repopulate THAT way, especially if those abducted live to be able to have children. I think thier interest in Walt was two fold, as he was special AND a child. Certainly the continuation of thier race could have been through Walt.

So imagine there is this group of people living on an island that for most intents and purposes is theirs. Along come these Scientific/Government folk setting up camp there. Maybe messing with what makes their home so special. There is an eventual war between the two. I'm pretty sure the Others did not have guns and that may have been why they allowed even for a second these people to stay. SOmehow, The Others win...they do keep the guns, as they are now a necessity to protect thier Island. But Dharma still messed with things on the Island and maybe it is not as specail as it used to be and their experiments are still running amok...and doing things like bringing more people to the island. And the LOSTIES, while not concerned with Dharma nor the Others nor the specailness of the island, are still eating thier food and doing things they are not supposed to do.

So the writers are rehashing ST:TNG episodes?? now thats lame.

Locke's actions were totally out of character, and has possible become the dumbest of the Losties yet, which is a damn hard thing to accomplish.

The Ping Pong Game was worthless filler.

I thought Sun wasn't talking Korean anymore to Kim?

Everything that was learned last night is really only a rehash of things that most fans of the show have already figured out.

The Tivo Channel reminder has been deleted.

I'm sticking a fork in it.

+++Not sure what that is.

Locke's actions were totally out of character, and has possible become the dumbest of the Losties yet, which is a damn hard thing to accomplish.

+++How so? He loves to push buttons. He never discusses what he's doing with anyone. He is a curious creature. And would do just about anything to stay on that island. He's been doing all of these things for a long time now. I think he's a lot more naive than dumb.

Everything that was learned last night is really only a rehash of things that most fans of the show have already figured out.

+++So we knew who the guy in the flame was. We knew what the flame station was for. We knew where Ms Klugh went to. We knew they speak Russian and that they'll die for whatever secret they are holding. We certainly knew what the cable was for. Oh and we found out that the Others apparently had a war with the Dharma folks. Right, it's ALL rehash.

The Tivo Channel reminder has been deleted.

+++I am shocked you still watch. I assumed you stopped long ago.

I'm sticking a fork in it.

+++you've been done for a while. Why do you torture yourself with a show you obviously haven't liked in a while. Maybe it took this long to admit the show isn't for you..

ps...I am not so sure I am comfortable with you using lines I do all the time with Mark. That of course is a joke. wink

Totally agree. Even the way he explained it was just wide-eyed dumb.

Then again he does have this thing for pressing buttons and trusting in weird things beyond his own ken. hmmm

btw I was watching season 5 of The West Wing recently and Locke played a general or JCS or something!

biggrin

I was like, that's Locke!

Terry O'Quinn has been in LOTS of things like Law and Order etc.

While I didn't like that the Flame went up in flames. I figure this was a plot device on a few fronts like now there is no communication. Nor do they have to worry about going back to it to fit it in the storyline. Same with Klugh. I did like it that they asked Rouseau if this was the transmission tower she spoke of.

The fact is the reference/pay homage many different things. For me that's part of the charm. There is some much from books to movies to songs to character names. While I am sure that TPTB are fans of ST and maybe even a reference to that plot somewhere, I really don't believe that this episode was anything like Star Trek as mentioned. If there was any direct correlation to ST, many would have said so already.
