What are you reading?

I just started The Alienist by Caleb Carr. I think it will be very good based on the few pages I read this morning.

Still reading Tropic of Cancer by Henry Miller. Not really feelin' it--I generally like "ex-pats in Paris between the wars" kind of books, but this one is too surreal (as in Surrealist), I think.
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I made it through the first chapter, but it's a long book, so I'll let you know once I'm done. I've heard it's very good.

I'm still reading the same book from the last time one of these threads, At The Highest Levels. The First Iraq War looms as Shevardnadze warns of dictatorship. As the UN Security Council meets, Soviet troops take the Lithuanian radio tower.

Can't wait to see how it ends! biggrin
