As long as it's under 15k, I'm pretty sure that the org will automatically adapt the size of the picture to the "window" designated for the avatar no matter if it looks too small or too big, so I'd advise her to simply upload it as it is.

Yup, it'll appear to be the same size as all the other avatars (at least that's how I think the org is programmed) but if the file size and thereby the resolution is low, it might look pixelated.
