Vegas Vegas KICKED my ass last week. Those machines were on LOCK down. Good thing I got the NBA and Prince thing going or I'd REALLY be pissed.

I was just there a few weeks ago, and my last pull on the quarter machine (in fact, my last bet of the trip) paid 1080 quarters!
Still it only covered my gambling & spending money. It didn't pay for my room or flight, and I didn't see Prince. Also I played a lot of roulette for the first time, which was a lot of fun. [Edited 2/23/07 16:52pm] My Legacy

Roulette is excellent and the only thing I play! Pure entertainment for me. I play with my little $10 or $20 and win that back put it in my pocket and play with the house's money.
I find that I play roulette when I have nothing else to do. When I was in Vegas, I had no time for gambling. There was waaaay too much to do. I kicked it from sun up to sun up every day.

i like playing poker, blackjack, and pai gow, but roulette can definitely be fun when you're on a run. i also like to bet on sports. i hardly ever play machines. a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

I have no luck with black jack. I want to play it, but it seems rigged; the dealer gets 20 or 21 so often I can't comprehend a logical explanation othen than cheating.
Craps are pretty fun, sonething you can play for a while and keep your money. I always figures roulette had the worst odds, but now I see you can play it aggressively or conservatively or any way in between. I still like to pull the slots sometimes. I guess it's my first exposure to gambling. I like to actually pull the handle, and I like the simplest slots, only one betting line, actual moving mechanical wheels, etc. Poker's kind of different than it used to be, everyone wears sunglasses & an IPod, and loves to go all in. black jack requires skill, although there are so many packs of cards
anywhere between 6 to 8 that the odds are always in the dealers favour but if everybody on the table knows how to play then there is money to be made. roullette is much more about chance, and the odds are stacked against you big time. we play by covering half the roullette wheel and always playing the same numbers. if your numbers come in a couple of times, then its time to head home, with your winnings. ohhh and gamblings a mugs game. are you ready for submission

Last time I went I learned to play craps, and that was actually quite fun. Except they kept feeding us free drinks and by the time it was my turn to throw the dice, I threw them off the table twice on accident. |

Luckily we were at a casino downtown, not on the strip, and it was quite late at night so we'd convinced them to open a low stakes craps table just for us. It was only my friends playing on the table so there was no one except the poor "dealer" guy to get mad at me. They all thought it was hilarious. But it was kind of awkward as I was standing on the side of the table, not the end, and I had to throw them sideways and make sure they hit the end of the table. My hand just kept throwing it a bit too high. |

I can see that, but that's part of it too, I think. It's sooooo utterly cheesy, but at least being honest in it's cheese. It's Americana. It's accessible to most everyone. Places like Paris are trying to pretend a replica of the eiffel tower is somehow classy. Downtown revels in the cheese, while some places on the strip, because of the amounts of money spent, they try to pretend it's not. Not to say there's no class to be found, cause there is, but most of it thinks it is when it's not. |

The video screen does add to the kitsch, I just liked it better when you could squint your eyes and be transported back in time. I was once downtown when they were filming an episode of Crime Story, a 1980's detective show set in 1950's Vegas. All of the streets were closed off and there were classic cars driving around and all the extras were dressed in 50's suits and dresses. This was before the video screen. It was sooooo cool seeing vegas like that. a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

S M A R T I believe it's like video-games.....I never play them, but I know that once I start I won't stop. With gambling, I just never took the time to understand the games. I don't know the rules of roulette or craps, I hate card-games (I consider card games the last option for me to do to cure boredom), and really.....maybe I'm too stupid for slot-machines. People, slot-machines are NOT programmed for you to win for 99% of the times.....calculate your probability of luck.....and I'm too impatient for that. For winning money, I believe for me it's the same as using cocaine.....I know I'll like it.....but it'll kill me in the long run, can't afford that habit.

Now THAT would be a million times better. Crime Story was one of the most underrated television shows of all time. Miami Vice got all of the attention, but Crime Story was and is classic TV. Old Vegas was a paradise for adults. New Vegas is a Disneyworld for adults. Each has their own charms. But different. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

I played really conservatively until my friend lost his $100 buy in, and got the f&^* out of there! My Legacy
