Charlotte is apparently bored with the lack of new threads in here, so she asked me to start a few. So here we go, here's the first one:

Do you like hosting parties or do you prefer to go to other people's parties?
Are you a good host who walks around and talks to everybody?
Do you try to get strangers to talk to each other or do you let groups form naturally?
Do you usually get sick of the guests before they get sick of the party or is it the other way around? How do you deal with it?

1. I don't like parties at houses. I prefer a nuetral setting like a club, or the beach, or restaurant where everyone is on equal footing and can walk away at anytime.

2. I hate to host.

3. I like to force folks to talk to each other. I tend to gravitate towards the quieter folks who are shy, though sometimes they are negative anti-people types, but I figure that out pretty quickly.

4. I get sick of guests almost immediately.

1) I love hosting parties, I thrive on knowing that I was the one who got all of the food, music and alcohol for entertainment. But I also love attending parties as well. You get to meet new people.

2) I think i'm a great host. I try to get around and mingle with everybody. That is when i'm not refilling trays or cleaning off tables.

3) I prefer for groups to form naturally, but that sounds quite cliquish. If i see someone in the corner and another on the couch, my instinct would be to introduce the both so that they aren't alone.

4) I usually get sick of the guests before they get sick of the party. After the party has served its purpose for me personally, then i'm ready to tell everybody "OK, NOW YOU AIN'T GO TO GO HOME, BUT YOU GOT TO GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!!" Especially if want to spend sometime with the b/f and get my freak on.

I am a pretty crap host, I don't enjoy my own parties cause I am always too tense, I don't know if I am coming or going most of the time, but I LOVE other people's parties!
I have a couple of friends who always stay at least 6 hours longer than everyone else I TRIED changing into my pyjamas on my wedding night and they STILL wouldn't leave

so locking your guests in a meat locker is a bad thing?

Both. I do get a thrill from hosting and while I'm certainly not the best, I think I do OK.

Yes. At least, I try. Sometimes it's exhausting, but that's what a good host does. When I was throwing really big parties once upon a time, there would always be people there I didn't even know. So I'd make sure to walk up and introduce myself and ask how they found out about the party.

Usually I let things go naturally, but if I feel things need to be mixed up, I'll instigate random conversations, introduce people to each other that wouldn't normally. Sometimes I'd make it a game for myself.

Long ago I was always the last standing at my parties and there would usually be at least a couple guests spending the night, so we'd be up till the wee hours chatting till the sun came up. These days I'm likely to be the first to want to leave. I don't host parties at my home anymore (as I no longer have the space) so once I'm ready to go, I do. They'll continue to have fun without me.

A little of both. Of course, there were parties we threw where my friends and I would go out to a club and give invites to cute strangers too. So sometimes you never knew what you were going to get. At the last party I threw when moving out of the place I was able to hold them all, a guy told me he was a neighbor from down the ally. He heard the party and thought he'd come check it out. But he ended up being nice.

I never host parties. I don't like attending them, why would I host them?

I'm more of a one-on-one type.

For the most part, yeah.

Naturally.

The other way around. For the most part, people stay pretty late to begin with and need to get back home because of kids, etc. I've had some people that were just rude, though, and come late...or they leave early...not caring how it impacts the rest of the people. That's important with LAN parties. Or, sometimes they don't bother to show up at all and don't even let me know when they gave me word earlier that they were coming. Those are the kind of people that piss me off the most.
