Verbally raped on the street

Yesterday afternoon, I was minding my own business, driving down a fairly busy, four lane road in my town, and a car pulls up next to me, rolls down their window, and screams, "hey baby, you wanna fuck" at me! My heart kind of did that split second seize from panic and the horror that all the other people driving around me could hear these crude morons screaming at me.

I just pretended not to hear them, but for an angonizing 10 seconds, they drove right next to me, screaming vulgar profanities at me. Then I turned into the first gas station I came up to. They sped off.

It was so horribly strange, and had me quite flustered while I was pumping gas. It wasn't like some strange guy, whistling at me or anything like that. Then I might feel slightly flushed and embarrassed. From what they were saying, I felt scared.

How can anyone doing that to someone think that it is funny or that I might have turned and said, "yeah...meet me up at that gas station."

i wish i could remember the name of the movie, but a few years back a lady made a documentary where she and other women would walk around in the streets of new york, and when some jerk would catcall them or say "hey, nice tits", a camera crew would come running out of the woodwork and the woman would start interviewing the guy who was harassing her, asking stuff like "how do you think i feel when you yell those things at me?"

those guys got REALLY shy when they had a film crew in their faces. lol

This happened to me many years ago as well, (I posted about it once on here actually) and I know that feeling. disbelief What this guy said to me was really disgusting and it was right in the middle of rush hour time in the Muni station in S.F. boxed I was mortified.

Hehehe, great story. Didn't know there was a word for that verbal abuse. Catcall. Where does it come from?

I know it makes ya feel so victomized. Seriously, it does. Cuz you don't know what to do, so ya keep walking letting them yell shit.

The first house me n my husband bought was rite next to a playground, where all these little high school boys would play basketball. Every time I'd go out to hang the close on the line, they'd yell stupid shit.

It's embarrasing.

I always just thought it was just part of being a girl.

The really sucky part of being a girl, that is.

I just tune it out, or roll my eyes. They are just looking for a reaction so I don't give them one.

yep you do feel victimized. this has happened to me as well. one time when i didn't give a reaction i was called all kinds of names..out in public. i just figured they are the ones who look stupid and desperate, angry because they couldn't get a number. Those are the times when it sucks to know that you are a beautiful and sexy woman.

There's a place called Cinema Revolution I've been meaning to check out, so this gives me a good enough reason! smile

Although, I will say, I find almost everything I've wanted on Netflix...

I would bet that half.com has it for a resonable price. I can't check from work, though.

I'd like to check out that movie as well....I'm an E.O. rep and I try to find interesting items to shake things up...kinda hard to get your point about sexual harassment and sexual assault across with powerpoint slides and lectures.....

as far as the incident, its sad that there are men out there who really think thats a good pickup line....idiots....thats the point where you wish that a piece of an airplane overhead would fall and crush their car....or crush them where they stand when they do stupid shit like that....

,....I think they call it thinning the herd.....nod

I go to Cinema Revolution every now and then. It's a good store, but I've never seen War Zone there.
