I Wish Those Days Would Come Back Once More...(I Think)-Hairstyles, Fashion And Other "Back In Tha Day" Stuff

A fun thread for everyone.

***Anybody used to have a jheri curl or cold wave...OHHH GAWD, all of that activator juice. You could smell a person with a jheri curl a mile away. And of course you had to wash your pillow cases regularly. Michael Jackson (in 1979) was the first person I ever saw with one. I never had any of those (as I have naturally wavy hair). But I used to put those wave rag.cap on my head at night so my waves can "lay down" while I sleep. Then I get up in the morning and take off the cap and brush my hair before going to school and those wave would be so thick in my hair, the girls would get "sea sick". "OOO can i feel your hair"

***Ok maybe you didn't have a jheri curl. But how many brothas had "a shag". You know a shag was that hairstyle where you had that extra patch of hair in the back by your neck. The guys in New Edition used to sport this hairstyle a lot in the early 80's.

***Ok maybe you're not with me on the hairstyle. Ok how many of you remember "The Smurfs", no not the cartoon this time but the dance called "the smurf".

***How many of you used to do the pee wee herman (no not what we got caught in a movie house doing) but the dance called the PEE WEE HERMAN. BTW "anyone heard any good jokes lately"

**How about those jordache, Gloria Vanderbilt(sp) and Sassoon jeans back in the 80's. The girls back then used to wear those jeans super tight.. ME GUSTA ME GUSTA ...(LOL)!!!

***How about those IZOD shirts with the alligator on the right hand side. Well some of us couldn't afford IZOD and had to settle for JCPenney's imitiation verison of IZOD with a fox on the right hand side.

***Ok here's another one. We didn't pull out guns back in tha day. We used to tell the person who was our enemy at school..."hey meet me on the playground after school". Afer school they would be a crowd of people gathered around you and your opposer. You might whip their behind and they may whip yours. But at the end of the fight. Everybody would go their separate ways, and more importantly live to see another day.

***How many of you guys growing up used to write that special girl you had a crush on a love letter that ended like this..."Would you be my girlfriend?? Or would you go with me??? ___Yes ___No ___Maybe. Put a check by your answer.

***How many of you used to scoop girls back in elementary school. Scoop is slang (well southern slang)for feeling on girls behinds. Mainly the girls with those tight jordache jeans on. Your buddy would say "I bet you a dollar, you won't scoop that girl right there". And you go over to her and scoop her and she would turn around and slap the crap out of you...(unless you "liked you" or had a crush on you) then she would still hit you...but not as hard. thechronic I bet this one is you bruh.

***How many of you used to cheat hard on tests and exams in elementary school and high school by using codes with your buddies. On multiple choice tests, me and my buddies had a good system. We'd cough or clear our throats. We look off to the side where our buddy was sitting and hold up one finger for question number #1 then our buddy would cough or clear our throats one time for letter A. If the answer was B, he'd cough two times. Come on, ya'll you used to do this...don't front.

Ok how many of these memories I mentioned are you???

I had BIG hair that changed color daily.

Yes, I miss the 80s dances, hairstyles and fashion trends. I was born in 1981. I remember my brother having a jheri curl and the part like new edition. I remember my mother used to pick out these clothes to wear with all different types of designs on them, and I also had on some socks with different colors. I used to remember me wasn't allow to wear any pants or shorts back then I think that was the badest memory when I wanted to fit in with the other girls, and my mother rejected eachtime me wanted to get some pants or shorts. The reason why my mother didn't allow for me to wear any pants or shorts, because at the time during this decade we used to attend a church, and the pastor thought wearing pants or shorts on girls was wrong. So she didn't allow for me to wear them over his opinions. It took a couple of my friends back then to make my mother change up her mind about allowing me to wear shorts and pants.

Ahhh man!!! yeah I remember that one. That was one of those cool dances, where you can stand in one place and do it. It came out around the same time as O'Bryan's song "The Gigolo" around 1981 or 1982' Good one Saffireseven

"He's just a freak...he don't dance...he's just a gigolo"...I don't think THEY really know"...(LOL)

Ok how many used to wear those penny loafers with the penny in them?

Also the 80's music was loud, raw, brash. Loved it! Those nutty dances, tootsie roll, forgot others! Hair was long and curly, now is shorter and curly! Ran to dance clubs and concerts galore! Brought a load of singles and albums every week!
